Man who vanished a month ago found dead inside chimney in grim discovery

Anthony Rumplik, who mysteriously disappeared a month ago, has been found dead inside a chimney in Georgia. Authorities have confirmed the body of the 43 year old man was recovered on Friday following his disappearance on December 28.

The body was discovered Friday night tucked away in a chimney. The local Sheriff's Office were informed just after 9pm that a "person was discovered inside the chimney".

Coroner Leon Jones, on Saturday, verified that the body found was indeed Anthony Rumplik, declared deceased at 8.17pm. The fire department were called to help remove the body and an autopsy is expected to take place.

Mike Hammett, speaking to WGXA, said that the body was found in his own house. According to Hammett, Rumplik had lived with him and his family before vanishing. With this shocking revelation, he has reached out to Rumplik's family.

Earlier this week, Marlo Rumplik, Rumplik's sister also spoke to WGXA saying: "My family needs my brother either to get him help, medical help right away, or to go into burial arrangements."

Rumplik's family shared that he journeyed to Macon in February last year, seeking a break from Ohio's harsh winter. They revealed that he was en route to Florida when his motorcycle broke down and got nicked, leaving him stranded.

He spent much of his time around Courtland Avenue and Napier Avenue. Rumplik relied on Social Security Disability Insurance and his family for financial support. He often stayed at local homeless shelters before moving in with a friend he met there.

"He had just got this other one [motorcycle] and he was trying to get it back up and on the road and get it legal and again. My father has to guide him on what to do next because mentally, it is kind of that of a 13-year-old," Marlo added.

His family also disclosed that he battled several health issues including bipolar disorder, schizophrenia and kidney failure.
