Manchester United's January transfer window has largely centred around exits, but plans are being made for summer recruitment.

Those on the outside of the first-team, the likes of Jadon Sancho and Donny van de Beek, have been allowed to leave on loan with Erik ten Hag unlikely to get the midseason injection he would like with his team struggling in the Premier League.

Last term players arrived on loan to plug gaps and that option remains on the table. Sir Jim Ratcliffe's arrival has led to a reset at Old Trafford and the new minority owner will be having a major say on footballing decisions with transfers set to be central to that.

Here's the latest from Manchester.

Defensive rejig could see four depart

United are open to seeing four of their defensive options leave this summer as they look for a reshuffle. ESPN reports that the club will listen to offers for both Harry Maguire and Victor Lindelof in an effort to raise funds. Raphael Varane and Jonny Evans are also out of contract in the summer.

It remains unclear whether the duo will be retained as Ten Hag seeks more change to his backline. Already targets have been identified with Jarrad Branthwaite, Matthijs de Ligt and Jean-Clair Todibo on United's shortlist.

Branthwaite has been a long-term target and continues to impress at Everton. Todibo is at Nice, the other club owned by Ratcliffe, and could move to a top European club. De Ligt meanwhile worked under Ten Hag at Ajax when he was one of the most in-demand defenders.

Real require huge Vinicius bid

The Red Devils will have to submit a mammoth bid before they can even start talks with Real Madrid over a potential deal for Vinicius Jr.

Reports from Catalan outlet Sport had claimed earlier this week claimed that United could spent around €150m if they wanted to land the Brazil star. ESPN Brazil though claims there has not yet been any contact and it would take €250m before Los Blancos entertained his exit.

Kylian Mbappe has been heavily linked with a switch to Madrid and that could yet see Vinicius sacrificed, but it appears unlikely that United will be his destination.

Fish's admirers

Young defender Will Fish, currently on loan at Hibernian, is attracting interest from several clubs in England.

The 20-year-old centre-half, an academy graduate, has played 28 times for the Scottish Premiership side and will remain north of the border for the remainder of the campaign. When he returns though there will be interest in his signature permanentyl

Championship outfit Cardiff are showing interest in signing him this summer and they could yet face competition. Fish has only ever played once for United and may have to accept a future away from Old Trafford.
