Kim Kardashian's unlikely friendship with Ivanka Trump from parties to rift
Kim Kardashian and Ivanka Trump might seem like an unlikely duo, but the pair have actually been friends for almost a decade.
They first met back in 2014 and instantly bonded over motherhood and their shared passion for criminal justice reform. Since then, Kim and Ivanka have been seen together on a number of nights out, most recently dancing the night away at a Justin Timberlake concert in Las Vegas.
However, their friendship has come at a cost. Many of their fans have slammed the friendship, pointing to Kim's politics differing from that of Ivanka's father, Donald Trump. Here, we've taken a look back at their unbreakable bond.

Kim attended the 2014 Met Gala with her then-fiancé Kanye West and it was here she was first introduced to Ivanka. The pair instantly hit it off as they bonded over "motherhood and being new moms", a source revealed.

Partying in Las Vegas
Ivanka took to Instagram last month to share some glamorous snaps from her and Kim's trip to the opening of the Fontainebleau in Las Vegas. The pair were joined by Kim's sister Kendall Jenner as they sat together to watch Justin Timberlake's surprise performance.
"It’s always a great time with you @kimkardashian," Ivanka wrote on Instagram. She added: "Viva Las Vegas! Bringing some Miami spice to LV!"
Kim showed off her stunning figure as she wore a skintight black knitted dress. She paired her look with a silver choker necklace and opted for a minimal makeup look. Ivanka shimmied the night away in a silver glittery skirt and black bandeau top. She decided to wear a dramatic eye shadow and bright red lipstick. Ivanka was also at Kim's 43rd birthday party in October. She attended the bash with Kim's close friends and family.
Criminal justice reforms
One of the things Kim and Ivanka first bonded over was their joint commitment to bring about criminal justice reforms. A source explained: "Kim and Ivanka have been friends for years and have hung out on a number of occasions." Speaking to US Weekly, they added: "[Criminal justice reform] is something they’ve both dedicated a lot of their time towards and has helped strengthen their friendship even further."
In September 2018, Kim joined Ivanka and her husband Jared to petition the then-President Donald Trump to commute the life sentence of Alice Marie Johnson, a nonviolent drug offender. They were successful in their petition.
Kim shared a series of photos from her meeting on X, formerly known as Twitter, and wrote: "It started with Ms. Alice, but looking at her and seeing the faces and learning the stories of the men and women I’ve met inside prisons I knew I couldn’t stop at just one. It’s time for REAL systemic change." Ivanka added: "Great working session today at the White House on ways to improve the clemency process with policy leaders and criminal justice reform advocates."
Kim and Ivanka teamed up again in June 2019. The Kardashians star visited the White House to discuss second-chance hiring and prisoner re-entry. She also announced her partnership with Lyft to help formerly incarcerated people get to and from job interviews.
Huge rift
While Kim and Ivanka seem to share a very strong bond, their friendship has caused a rift among their fans. Kim shared some snaps of her and Ivanka back in October and was inundated with negative comments.
"Kimberley why Ivanka??" one fan wrote, while another said: "Ivanka's people don’t even like your people though." A third person spat out: "Really Ivanka? The hypocrisy and disgust."

Kanye West and Donald Trump
Kim's ex-husband has a rocky past with Ivanka's father. Kanye has expressed his support for Trump on a number of occasions and admitted to being impressed by the former President's work in real estate.
However, their relationship grew tense when Kanye was dropped from a number of brands for making several vile anti-Semitic comments. The rapper also claimed Trump screamed at him over his plans to run for President in 2024.
