Kate's family 'rally around' after operation as parents 'clear their diaries'
The Princess of Wales will have her whole family "rallying around" her as she recovers from surgery, an insider says.
Doting Prince William made a hospital dash to be at Kate’s bedside yesterday, and her parents have reportedly cleared their schedules so they can look after the couple's three young children.
The Prince of Wales, 41, was flanked by bodyguards as he visited his wife after abdominal surgery. William was spotted leaving The London Clinic behind the wheel of a £139,000 electric Audi E-Tron GT Carbon Vorsprung, followed by royal bodyguards in a Range Rover.
Kate, 42, is said to be “doing well” after spending three nights on a private ward after a major operation. William has taken time off to be with his wife and look after their children over the coming weeks. Royal trips to Latvia and Italy have been put on hold as Kate recovers, sources say.
A royal insider said: “It goes without saying that William’s priority is for his wife’s wellbeing and his children’s welfare. Kate’s family will rally round to help out where they can and the palace has cancelled all foreign trips and future engagements.
Baby boy has spent his life in hospital as doctors are 'scared' to discharge him"The Prince and Princess of Wales’ upcoming visits to Latvia, to visit British troops serving overseas, and spring tour to Italy in March, have also been postponed. The focus across the board is all geared towards focusing on the Princess’s recovery.”
William was seen departing the private hospital in Marylebone at around 12.35pm yesterday before returning to Windsor. His wife could spend up to two weeks there recovering.
Kate’s parents are believed to have cleared their diaries to support her recovery and help care for Prince George, 10, Princess Charlotte, eight, and Prince Louis, five. Kate is not expected to return to public events until after Easter.
The nature of the Princess’s condition has not been revealed, although Kensington Palace confirmed it was not cancerous. It is serious enough, however, for the heir to the throne William to be postponing official duties while his wife is in hospital. He has also delayed any engagements while she recuperates, devoting his time to his family.
Messages of support flooded in for the Royal family. The Princess of Wales was sent a get well message by East Anglia’s Children’s Hospices, of which she is patron. The charity said: “Everyone at East Anglia’s Children’s Hospices sends their very best wishes to our wonderful patron, HRH The Princess of Wales. We are all thinking of you and wish you a speedy recovery.”
A statement issued by Kensington Palace read: “The Princess of Wales appreciates the interest this statement will generate. She hopes that the public will understand her desire to maintain as much normality for her children as possible; and her wish that her personal medical information remains private. Kensington Palace will, therefore, only provide updates on Her Royal Highness’ progress when there is significant new information to share. The Princess of Wales wishes to apologise to all those concerned for the fact that she has to postpone her upcoming engagements. She looks forward to reinstating as many as possible, as soon as possible.”
