DAAFY (6.00, nap) is fancied to add to a last-time-out return to winning form by lifting the Win £2,000,000 With BetMGM's Golden Goals Handicap at Southwell on Thursday.

A three-time winner in 2022, the Derek Shaw-saddled seven-year-old drew a blank from a dozen attempts last year.

However, Daafy hit the bullseye in a seven-furlong handicap at the Rolleston track 13 days ago – a race for which he was backed into 7-2 favouritism.

Always travelling with comfort under Cam Hardie, Daafy was given the office to hit the front inside the final furlong and had a cosy three parts of a length to spare over Fieldsman at the line.

Southwell Racecourse hosts an all-weather card on Thursday, January, 18, where Newsboy's Nap selection - Daafy - runs in the 6.00

A 3lb rise takes Daafy to a new BHA mark of 58, but he has spent most of the past two years rated in the 60s, and the return to a mile should not be a problem for a horse who has won at the trip before.

At Chelmsford City, STELLA HOGAN (3.40, nb) is taken to give her rivals weight and a beating in the Injured Jockeys’ Fund Handicap.

John O’Shea’s four-year-old got off the mark at Kempton Park in October and, on the back of podium efforts at Chelmsford and Kempton either side of New Year, should give another good account.
