Selena Gomez's new boyfriend Benny Blanco was seemingly awkwardly escorted off the Emmys red carpet earlier this week, with it now claimed that the hitmaker felt "awkward" during the cringe moment.

The Only Murders in the Building starlet, 31, went red carpet official with her new record producer beau Benny Blanco, 35, at the Primetime Emmys this week. The couple already confirmed their relationship towards the end of 2023.

And now, amid a new video circulating online that sees Benny getting "escorted off the red carpet" at the glitzy award ceremony, a body language expert has weighed in on the couple's dynamic, adding some insight into what was going on in the video that had no audio.

In a video shared by E! News on Instagram, which has now been deleted, Benny could be seen standing next to his girlfriend before she was about to walk the red carpet and pose for photos. He could then be standing back while Selena walked off and he proceeded to blow kisses to her despite her back being turned.

Speaking exclusively to The Mirror, Inbaal Honigman has analysed the video clip, with it being revealed that Selena felt "awkward" while Benny felt "confident".

"Selena feels awkward about having her new man there, distracting her when she's got a job to do," Inbaal revealed to us after analysing the video of the awkward moment. She added that their body language, "just before he's escorted off the red carpet, is exactly the opposite of one another's".

Touching on Benny, Inbaal said that when the music producer looked at his girlfriend, he was "searching for eye contact" and "checking if she's got any directions or instructions for him", but Inbaal noted how "she looks away, then glances towards his general direction, but she makes no eye contact at all".

Then, when the glamorous actress walks away, "her turning her back pointedly, looking down at her purse and fiddling with it, her musical beau sends her public and obvious air kisses", Inbaal said.

She analysed: "Selena's avoidance of Benny's gaze shows that she'd rather he wasn't trying to get her attention. She's got places to go and people to take photos with, and he's not part of this specific photo call. The way she fiddles with her purse, in a self-soothing gesture, suggests that she's actually uncomfortable."

Wrapping up her expert body language analysis, Inbaal concluded: "Benny's dauntless eye contact and kisses says that he's confident and secure. As he walks away, his stride is long and his arms swing naturally by his side, his self-reliance isn't compromised.

"He doesn't mind standing aside."
