Kate Garraway and Holly Willoughby fans have called for Katie Hopkins to be banned from social media forever after she took aim at the grieving wife of Derek Draper in a vicious rant - and has now hit out at Holly following her return to Dancing On Ice.

On Monday, controversial former Apprentice candidate Hopkins was slammed for mocking grieving Kate just days after the death of her husband Derek. Good Morning Britain star Kate, 56, was left devastated when her husband Derek lost his life following an almost four year battle against Covid. The former political lobbyist was struck down by the disease shortly after the UK entered the first lockdown during the pandemic in March 2020 - and was one of the worst affected Covid patients in the world. Derek was in a coma for almost three months and was left unable to speak. He remained in hospital for more than a year and was finally allowed home in April 2021 but required round the clock care.

Kate had flown Derek to Mexico in November last year to undergo a new treatment in the hope it would help his condition, however he suffered a heart attack while in the North American country. Kate flew him back to the UK where he was treated in an intensive care unit but sadly passed away on 3 January due to complication caused by Covid. Derek died at the age 56 and left behind Kate and their two children; Darcy, 17, and Billy, 14.

Following Derek's sad passing, Hopkins, 48, mocked Kate and her grief as she navigates life without Derek. Addressing fans in a video she shared on social media, the disgraced broadcaster discussed Kate’s family tragedy.

Hopkins was previously fired from her LBC show in 2017 when she made comments about the Manchester Arena bombing, and was banned from Twitter in 2020 for “violations of our hateful conduct policy” before being allowed to return.

In the rant video, Hopkins gleefully swigged red wine while claiming to followers that ITV was screening a 'Life After Derek' TV special that night and that Kate had rushed out a book to discuss Derek’s tragic passing. Neither the TV documentary nor book exists. In the accompanying tweet, Hopkins wrote: "Important @ITV documentary tonight. #KateGarraway. #LifeAfterDerek allegedly sponsored by Fizzzzzzzeeerr" in reference to the vaccine company Pfizer, even though Derek caught Covid before the vaccine was invented. "Accompanying book available wherever you get your 100th boooooosta #ExcessDeaths," Hopkins added.

Her hurtful comments provoked a vicious backlash as political commentator Tan Smith said: "I’ve seen a lot of grim stuff on here, but seeing hateful psychopath Katie Hopkins, recording herself laughing whilst mocking Kate Garraway regarding the death of her husband, was one of the worst." Comedian Dom Joly added: "She is a pure sociopath- zero empathy, total grifter."

Piers Morgan also branded Hopkins as 'despicable' over her vile remarks about Kate and Derek. The 58-year-old broadcaster was a close friend of Derek and a former co-host with Kate on Good Morning Britain. After catching wind of her cruel outburst, Piers took to social media to repost an article about her commentary. In the tweet, he added the word: "Despicable."

Hopkins has clearly been unfazed by the backlash, as she continued to hit out at Holly Willoughby in a new rant. Hopkins vented over ITV's decision to bring back Holly, 42, to Dancing On Ice after she stepped down from her role on This Morning back in October.

Former Celebrity Big Brother star Hopkins claimed it would have been a 'legal nightmare' for ITV bosses to sack Holly. In the vicious rant she also called out This Morning’s Alison Hammond and The Chase host Bradley Walsh.

"At this point, for ITV to get rid of Holly Willoughby would cost the earth. Can you imagine reputational damage, you know, PTSD, all the rest of it. Having to work with Alison Hammond," she said in the video which was posted to Instagram. So instead they've put her back on Dancing on Ice. The British public we're like, 'What the f**k's she doing back? I thought they'd got rid of her, what's she doing?' She looks a bit like an ex-wife at a wedding, doesn't she?”.

“Kind of desperate and overdressed. Or one of those patients you find staggering around the wrong ward when they've taken too many Prozac”, she added before hitting out at Alison and Bradley. Bradley Walsh's kid looks a bit like the working experience kid doesn't he - just turned up with absolutely no clue. An apprentice at a garage that's never seen a spanner”.

Following her vile comments about Kate and Derek, and her new rant on Holly, social media users have called for Hopkins to be banned across all social media platforms. "This woman shouldn't have a platform. She is just pure evil at this point," one insisted.

"Someone needs to take this woman's phone and throw it down the toilet. How is she getting away with this??? She shouldn't be allowed to have any social media," another echoed. "Wow, Katie has really shown her true colours. Mocking Kate Garraway was way too far. Disgusting behaviour," someone else added.
