Jonnie Irwin wowed fans with a selfie at the weekend - with many congratulating him on his appearance amid his ongoing cancer battle.

The 50-year-old father-of-three revealed in November 2022 that he had been diagnosed with terminal lung cancer and had been living with the disease since 2020. The television presenter has been bravely battling the illness ever since - and keeping fans and social media followers up to date on his life and activities away from the screens.

On Sunday, Jonnie revealed he had been at Old Trafford in Manchester to watch the latest Tottenham Hotspur match - where the Spurs took on Manchester United. And while the match may have disappointed some due to the result being a 2-2 draw, Jonnie’s fans were thrilled to see him out enjoying himself.

The A Place In The Sun host took a selfie from the iconic Old Trafford stadium - wearing a baker boy hat and a warm winter coat. Joined by a friend and looking at the camera, Jonnie captioned the moment: “Spurs away- I’ll take the drawer…”

Fans were quick to react to Jonnie’s update to wish him well. One follower wrote in response: “Looking swell, Jonnie, keep doin' what it is you're doin' 'cos it's bloody working, mate! Good on yer...”

Meanwhile, another typed: "Fabulous that you made it to the game and enjoyed the match. What a warrior you truly are Hats off to you Jonnie". And a third fan wrote: "Keep fighting Jonny looking good enjoying life."

Last year, Jonnie opened up about his continued health battle and explained how happy he was to be able to enjoy a holiday to Spain with his wife, Jess, and their three sons; Rex, four, and three-year-old twins Rafa and Cormac. The star told Hello! magazine last November: "I never thought I'd be here for this, so I'm chuffed to bits.

“I feel really privileged to be able to celebrate my birthday looking at blue skies and with sand between my toes. I had an early birthday party at the start of the year because I didn't think I'd make it. It was like being at my own wake; lots of fun, lots of dancing. But here I am. I view it as a complete triumph."

Sharing more details of the trip, he added: "I have been spending all day with the kids; playing in the pool and in the hot tub, playing football. When I went to bed last night I said, 'I feel like a real dad today.' This morning I couldn't get out of bed, but I'm not sorry and I'll do it again."
