Andre Onana has jumped on a private jet as he flies out to be part of Cameroon's Africa Cup of Nations ambitions.

The Manchester United goalkeeper delayed his departure to remain in between the sticks for his club for as long as possible. Dialogue had been going on between United and Onana's country to ensure he would still be available for Sunday's draw with Tottenham.

United were held 2-2 with Rodrigo Bentancur smashing home a second-half equaliser. Several other African stars, the likes of Mohamed Salah, jetted out several days ago. Onana flew out last night as he aims to be part of Cameroon's clash with Guinea at 5pm on Monday.

The United No.1 is set to be on the bench with his distant cousin Fabrice Ondoa, who plays in the French third division, expected to take the gloves for the match. Onana missed Cameroon's warm-up game against Zambia to play in the 2-0 FA Cup win over Wigan last week.

Onana wanted to remain at United as he feared losing his No.1 spot to his understudy Altay Bayindir, who arrived in the summer. Erik ten Hag spent £47million to land Onana from Inter Milan in the summer, but he's yet to convince at Old Trafford.

Cameroon are understood to have been understanding of United's situation as they signed Onana several months ago when he retired from international football. The goalkeeper has since reversed that decision but the nation were sympathetic towards their viewpoint.

Onana clashed with his manager while at the World Cup in Qatar just over a year ago. The goalkeeper refused to change his style of play and was later dropped for a crucial group stage match.

Ten Hag said last month on Onana's performances thus far: "If you analyse it well then you see he is the second-best goalkeeper in the Premier League based on stats. He's doing well but he knows that in the Champions League he has made some mistakes but all over in the first five months he has done well."
