Anthony 'Big Jook' Mims took to Instagram just hours before his death to pay tribute to a friend who had passed away.

The brother of rapper Yo Gotti was killed following a shooting outside Perignons Restaurant & Event Centre in Memphis, Tennessee. The shooting took place on Saturday afternoon, with Anthony among two men who were gunned down.

He was pronounced dead at the scene. Just hours earlier, Anthony shared a picture of one of his friends on his Instagram Story. Alongside the post, he wrote: "RIP UNK LAS VEGAS ERIC." He described his friend as "legendary". Just a day before his death, Big Jook also shared an eerie post warning fans to "stay alert".

He shared a clip of himself standing next to a Christmas tree before walking out of the building. In the caption, he said: "They don’t want to face you they wanna snake you… Stay alert 2 stay alive watch your back at all times… Put snakes on the plate and eat great…"

After Saturday's shooting, a second victim was rushed to hospital and is in critical condition. Shots were first reported to police around 4:15pm on Saturday. It's believed two men were targeted in the shooting.

The shooting took place after Big Jook attended a funeral service in the area, according to TMZ. It's currently unclear whether Yo Gotti, real name Mario Sentell Giden Mims, was with his brother at the time of the shooting and he is yet to speak out about his brother's death.

Memphis police department has asked anyone with information to come forward. "A 4:15 pm, officers were flagged down on a shooting at 6385 Winchester. A male was located on the scene and xported to St. Francis where he was pronounced deceased. A second male arrived at St. Francis by private vehicle. He is listed as critical. Call 901-528-CASH with tips," they said in a statement shared on X.

Videos have been circulating online which show Big Jook bleeding while laying on the ground as people gathered around him to try and tend to his injuries. Big Jook had a very close relationship with his brother and was linked to Yo Gotti's record label Collective Music Group. He worked on the business side of things, promoting the artists.

Collective Music Group was founded back in 2012 and has gone on to sign a number of successful acts including Moneybagg Yo. 42 Dugg, Blac Youngsta, GloRilla, EST Gee and Mozzy. Yo Gotti broke on to the hip-hop scene with his 1996 debut album Youngsta's On A Come Up. He went on to release 10 more studio albums.
