Ricky Hatton's kids issue stern warning ahead of Dancing On Ice debut

Ricky Hatton has revealed the stern words of warning his family gave him after he announced that he would be appearing on the upcoming series of ITV's Dancing On Ice.

The 45-year-old former champion boxer is currently training hard for his turn on the ice, which will also see celebrities Hannah Spearritt of S Club fame and former Love Island winner Amber Davies also take their turn to impress the Dancing On Ice judges. It would seem that Ricky is up against it though, as it is not just the judges he will have to hope likes his moves, as his daughters have said that he cannot "embarrass" the family.

For now though, Ricky is hoping that all he learnt during his decorated boxing career will help him when the going gets tough on the ice. Speaking on This Morning, Ricky revealed that he took on the ice skating show as he wanted a new challenge after retiring from the ring.

Ricky said on the ITV daytime show: “If I can hold my nerve in the boxing ring I should be able to hold my nerve in the ice rink. I like setting new challenges and keeping myself busy!”. It was not a decision that sat well with his daughters Millie and Fearne, who were quick to lay down the rules for his appearance on the show.

Ricky said about the reaction he received after announcing his Dancing On Ice intentions: "They all thought it was crackers because I can't dance on a solid floor, so I don't know how I'm going to do it on ice! But it was great. “The reaction of my kids, Millie and Fearne, they watched the show and they went, ‘Oh my God, dad. Oh honestly, are you dad? Can't wait for this. Don't go embarrassing us, dad.’ That fills you with confidence, doesn't it?”

This comes after reports that Ricky's relationship with his Playboy model girlfriend, Chelsea Claire, had come to an end after four months of dating. The Sun has reported that the 14-year age gap between the pair had started to cause issues and they decided to part ways as Ricky looked to focus on training for the ITV show.

A source told the publication: “Ricky and Chelsea had a great time together, but it ended up being more of a fling. They are at very different stages of their life and Ricky is really throwing himself into training and wants to concentrate on that."
