Social media can educate people in a number of ways, it can also help break down stigmas and correct misconceptions. Thanks to one doctor, it has also now revealed the average size of a penis.

Dr Jen Caudle has gone viral on social media having shared her health knowledge as well as helpful tips on TikTok. The physician, from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, has shot to success on the platform with her videos, with one in particular standing out.

In August of last year, Dr Caudle answered a question many people have wondered, but few would probably admit to being curious about - what is the average length of a penis? That video has recently resurfaced, having racked up more than 1.4 million views, with her answer leaving some in shock.

Dr Caudle posted the video discussing the average length in an attempt to eliminate some of the expectations and pressures men feel when it comes to the size of their packages. Despite what many may believe, the average penis length is a lot smaller than most would guess.

According to Dr Caudle, the "average size of a flaccid penis is 3.61 inches". But when things start heating up, she explained "the average size of an erect penis is 5.17 inches."

The family doctor said it was "important to talk about" the subject, which many can find awkward or uncomfortable. She explained that discussing these matters can help eliminate some of the "societal pressure" that is felt by all people to look "a certain way".

"As a family doctor, I talk about a lot of stuff," she said. "It's important to talk about penises, vaginas, all sorts of things, so I want to impart some knowledge about what the true average size that penises tend to be.

"One reason is, I think most people think the average penis size is a lot longer and larger than it actually is. Number two, there's a lot of societal pressure to be a certain way, this goes for both men and women, and I'm not a fan of it.

"So I want to tell you some facts that will hopefully help set the record straight on what really is [the average size]. The bigger message here is to know that you're fine just the way you are, that's the most important message that I'm trying to give with this video.

"You're fine, and the societal pressure that we put on ourselves [thanks to the] internet or television to be bigger and better, that's wrong. What matters is you."

Dr Caudle said the length of the average penis was "actually shorter than a lot of people would imagine". She drove home her message of self-love, reminding people to focus on "who they are" as a person rather than the size of their appendages.

She also added that size "doesn't necessarily" have an impact on "pleasure", for those who were concerned they may not be able to perform to the standard they wanted in the bedroom due to the tools they were equipped with. She concluded by saying: "Know you are enough and understand that penis size does not necessarily determine pleasure between partners."

Of course, users flocked to the comments section with clever quips and many men making jokes about their own packages. One wrote: "That means I'm packing baby. I never thought those words would ever come out my mouth."

"I've waited my entire life to say this - yay I'm above average!" wrote one user, before adding: "Barely, but above. You made my day."

"So... You're telling me I'm just above the average? Finally I am Kenough," joked one user. While another thanked Dr Caudle for her content, saying: "Thank you for being bold enough to tell the truth, and giving information."
