Jadon Sancho says his goal is "to be happy again" at Borussia Dortmund, after assisting Marco Reus in their 3-0 win over Darmstadt.

Sancho rejoined Dortmund on loan from Manchester United two days ago, having been frozen out at Old Trafford after a public falling out with manager Erik ten Hag. As a result, Sancho has returned to Dortmund and he made an immediate impact after being introduced off the bench by manager Edin Terzic.

In his first competitive appearance since last August, Sancho bagged an assist as he set up Reus for Dortmund's second goal of the game. And the winger gave an emotional interview after the game, saying "Ever since I've come back I have felt at home and I'm just happy to be back on the pitch again.

"It was meant to be, coming back and seeing Marco again. He's a great friend of mine and I'm happy to set up his goal. [My goal is] to be happy again, to be back on the pitch and to help the team, get them back in the top three and qualify for the Champions League.

"I've got personal goals which I'm not going to say for now. I just want to help the team and I'm very positive about the second half of the season. We kept a clean sheet which was really important and we just take it game by game.

"The team have objectives and I'm sure we'll do well if we fight every game." The win leaves Dortmund fifth in the Bundesliga, just three points off the Champions League places.

Sancho was not the only new signing in action for Dortmund, with Ian Maatsen also featuring after joining the club on loan from Chelsea. And Terzic was delighted with the impact of both players, telling Sky Sports Germany : "First of all, we're happy that we won.

"We're happy that both Jadon and Ian made a really good impression. They were very important for our game and for us today won. You shouldn't forget, we always talk about the talent and the natural fitness that Jadon has in him.

"That's one thing, the other is that he's a very young player. He's still experienced a lot. Now he has that met a wall for the first time. It exists in every career. We know what Jadon can do. We had an extremely successful time together.

"Now it's about creating a new successful time. Of course he has to invest a lot in it. But he's ready. He showed us that in the first few days."
