Arctic blast sweeps across US with 'life-threatening' cold weather warning
Americans are being told to brace for deadly weather this seeking as Arctic storms continue to batter the country.
Among some fierce conditions, people are being told to expect blinding snow, bone-chilling temperatures, heavy rainfall, and even stronger winds. The troubling weather is expected to hit on Saturday, with Governors from New York to Louisiana all declaring a state of emergency, with harsh conditions expected to hit St. Louis.
The National Weather Service has even issued a warning about "life-threatening" cold temperatures. Regular life has already been impacted by the incoming storms, with campaign schedules in Iowa, with former President Donald Trump, Nikki Haley and Ron DeSantis all being forced to reshuffle their packed schedules ahead of Monday's presidential vote.

Extra first-aid stations will also be set up around the 76,000-seater. Fellow fans in Buffalo are expected to have to battle with up to 30 centimetres of snow and horrid winds as the Bills host Pittsburgh on Sunday.

Yesterday, the National Weather Service warned the storm would crash through the Midwest to the Great Lakes over the weekend and blizzards, snow and powerful winds were all on the agenda. Some places in the Northeast were told to expect flooding, with emergency services having to help many people in Paterson, New Jersey, on Friday morning after the Passaic River overflowed.

In Bismark, North Dakota, temperatures are expected to plummet to as low as -29C having already reached -24C on Friday. There is also a black ice warning from the freezing rain. Tyson Ropp works at the Double Cross Cattle Company near Roberts, Montana, and was forced to use an axe on Friday morning to chop through chunks of ice covering his bulls' water trough. He playfully shrugged as he explained: “It’s just Montana."
States which are used to the rainy conditions, such as Portland and Oregon, have also had emergency weather warnings announced and have been forced to open up shelters for their homeless - thousands of gloves, ponchos and jackets were also distributed in an attempt to keep the vulnerable warm.

A similar incident occurred in Idaho after a man was presumed dead after an avalanche on Thursday.
On Friday, the National Weather Service announced every state in the US has an active NWS watch, warning, or advisory as it sent out a colour-coded map that shows where the storms, blizzards, wind and rain are set to hit. People in Chicago were told they could face bone-chilling temperatures of -26C, a temperature which causes frostbite to exposed skin in a quarter of an hour, as well as several inches of snow and 50mph winds.

Angelo Travieso, a Venezuelan man who is one of many migrants staying on one of many people parked up on a "warming bus" which was set up to help people from seeping outside, says the buses are overcrowded.
He said: “I slept sitting because there is almost no space left. The buses are also small and you practically have to stay inside because of the heating, because it is deadly cold outside.”
Illinois Gov. J.B. Pritzker released a letter Friday pleading with Texas Gov. Greg Abbott to stop sending migrants to Chicago during the dangerous weather and called for the transports to be paused to "save lives". In a reply, Abbott refused to stop the “voluntary” trips “until President Biden steps up and "does his job to secure the border.”
