The desire for January business at the Emirates has only gotten stronger amid Arsenal's dire run of one win in six games.

After Mikel Arteta and co were dumped out of the FA Cup last Sunday at home to Liverpool, Gunners fans far and wide - including Arsenal legend Ian Wright - were heard pleading for a new striker with a "killer" instinct.

Gabriel Jesus' recent injury hasn't helped Arteta's striking issues, but Gunners chiefs could open the chequebook and sanction a huge move before the current window closes. Here's a round-up of the latest transfer news from the Emirates.

Arsenal join race for Man Utd target

Arsenal are weighing up a January swoop for Bologna forward Joshua Zirkzee, who's also been linked with Manchester United. According to the Telegraph, ex-Dutch youth international Zirkzee is valued at £50million, although a move to either Arsenal or United this month is likely to be complicated.

The 22-year-old former Bayern Munich prodigy, let go by the German giants 18 months ago, has scored eight goals and registered four assists across 22 appearances for Serie A side Bologna this campaign. Standing at 6ft 4in, Zirkzee would offer a different kind of option in attack for both Arteta and Ten Hag's sides.

Howe offers Arsenal boost in Solanke pursuit

Newcastle manager Eddie Howe has ruled his side out of the race for Arsenal target Dominic Solanke, admitting that they can't afford the striker. Newcastle had been tipped to reunite ex-Bournemouth boss Howe with Solanke, 26, after his impressive first half of the season which has seen him backed for a move to the Emirates as an alternative to No.1 Gunners target Ivan Toney.

"A frustrating story for me," Howe responded when asked about a potential move. "I love Dominic Solanke. I signed him, and rate him very highly. But we have not made an enquiry for him and we don't have the ability to sign a player of that level."

Youngster returns from Nantes loan

Arsenal have recalled Marquinhos from his loan with French side Nantes. The Brazilian winger only managed one start and the Gunners are now set to decide on whether or not to find another loan for the second half of this season.

Marquinhos spent the second half of last term with Championship outfit Norwich City. The 20-year-old is soon expected to join up with the Brazilian under-23 squad for their 2024 Pre-Olympic Tournament held in Venezuela.
