Nathan Jones was also asked for his opinion on facing Newcastle during his post-match interview with BBC Radio 5 Live.
The Southampton manager said: "Really tough.
"I watched the game here before my appointment, Eddie [Howe] has done a phenomenal job at Newcastle so it will be a tough, tough game but we have a wonderful match to look forward to here and then we go to St James' Park, it is a semi-final we have to enjoy it."
Nathan Jones has revealed his pride after Southampton's surprise win against Manchester City.
The Saints boss told BBC Radio 5 Live: "Really proud of the football club tonight. Proud of the players and the coaching staff for making strong decisions under pressure.
"Their manager is the most innovative, he will always have solutions. The changes we made brought energy and we saw out the game.
"We weren't hanging on, we were a threat at times so I am really proud of the team."
Man Utd deadline day live updates as Sabitzer completes loan moveDean Henderson will be buzzing tonight.
Yet the Nottingham Forest goalkeeper will not be happy with the draw.
That's because he is expected ineligible for the tie, as it's against his parent club Manchester United.
The Red Devils can give Henderson permission to play.
But we can't see that happening...
Pep Guardiola has congratulated Southampton on their victory.
He told BBC Radio 5 Live: "The better team won. We didn't play good, we didn't play well in the beginning. There are many games you can start not good and overcome and we didn't do it.
"When you are not prepared to play this game you arrive one inch late and don't score a goal. When you are prepared you score the goal.
"Today was a bad night, the opponent was better so we have to congratulate them. To win games you have to deserve it and tonight we didn't deserve it."
Nottingham Forest manager Steve Cooper has expressed his delight at reaching the Carabao Cup semi-finals.
He told BBC Radio 5 Live: "Chuffed for the supporters and players."
Cooper added: "In terms of result I said we have to play better. I think Wolves were good on the night and you have to respect that."
The Carabao Cup final is scheduled to take place at Wembley on Sunday, February 26.
It's unclear exactly what days each club will play on.
The first leg between Nottingham Forest and Manchester United will be played at the City Ground.
While the first leg between Southampton and Newcastle will be played at St Mary's.
As we know, the Carabao Cup semi-finals are two-legged ties.
The first legs are set to be played on January 24 and 25.
While the second legs are set to be played on January 31 and February 1.

Nottingham Forest vs Manchester United
And that's the second game!
The first semi-final!
Here we goooooo!
Southampton have never won the Carabao Cup before, losing finals in 1979 and 2017.
As we know, Manchester United defeated Southampton in 2017.
Nottingham Forest are the only other team to beat Southampton in a Carabao Cup final - back when it was called the League Cup.
Forest have won this competition four times before.
Newcastle were runners-up in 1976.
Yes, five times!
Manchester United last won the Carabao Cup five years ago, when it was called the EFL Cup.
They defeated Southampton 3-2 in the final.
Could we see a repeat of that final this season?
It all depends on the draw!

There's still a lot of football to be played tonight, however.
Will Manchester City or Wolves recover?
WOW!
What a start to the tie between Southampton and Manchester City.
The Saints are 2-0 up!
Who saw that coming?
Nottingham Forest, meanwhile, are beating Wolves 1-0.
The semi-finals will be played over two legs. They get underway later in January, before being completed in early February.
The first legs will take place in the week starting January 23, with the return fixtures being played the following week. The final will be played on Sunday, February 26 at Wembley Stadium.
Unlike the quarter-finals – which will go straight to penalties if the scores are level at full-time – extra-time will be used in the semi-finals and final. VAR will also be in operation.
Liverpool are the holders, having beaten Chelsea 11-10 on penalties last year following a 0-0 draw. Manchester City have won the Carabao Cup in five of the last seven seasons.
The draw for the semi-finals of the Carabao Cup will take place on Wednesday, January 11, straight after the last quarter-final between Southampton and Manchester City.
That match should finish around 9:45pm, unless it goes to penalties, which are being used instead of extra-time to settle stalemates in the quarter-finals.
The draw will be hosted by TV presenter Mark Chapman, who will be joined by Lionesses legend Jill Scott and former Manchester City defender Nedum Onuoha.
Good evening and welcome to Mirror Football's coverage of tonight's Carabao Cup semi-final draw.
Manchester United and Newcastle are through to the last four - but who will join them in the pot?
