Holly Willoughby set to host new Netflix show based on I'm A Celebrity

Holly Willoughby is being touted to host a brand new game show for Netflix which will follow a format similar to I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!

The 42-year-old TV host has been largely absent from screens since October when she quit her job on ITV’s This Morning. She is due back on screens this month as a co-host of winter sport reality show Dancing On Ice - which she will present alongside Stephen Mulhern.

However, reports are buzzing that Holly will be heading to a jungle environment to helm a brand new show which will see her presiding over daring trials where celebrities will go up against notorious survivalist, Bear Grylls. The new show will reportedly see celebrities enter a jungle environment and face gruelling challenges.

If they lose their challenge, they then have to compete against 49-year-old Bear directly - although full details of the proposed show are scarce. It is hoped, however, that Holly would bring some much-needed glamour to the set up.

The Sun reported the claim, with a source saying: “Bear is working with a production company on the show for Netflix… It’s a really exciting concept and Bear is totally on board. Now they have Holly in their sights to host it. She is very glamorous and an accomplished host.” The report adds that Bear would effectively be “hunting” the fellow celebrities that dare to take part. The Mirror has contacted a representative of Holly for comment.

It would not be the first time Holly has worked alongside creepy crawlies for entertainment value, of course. For she once acted as a host on I’m A Celeb back in 2018 as she filled in for Ant McPartlin - who was taking time out of the spotlight after confessing to drink and drug addictions and after he drunkenly crashed his car.

Viewers were delighted to see Holly co-host alongside Declan Donnelly - with fans branding her “a brilliant, perfect replacement” for Ant, and viewers appreciating the "funny, caring vibe" she brought to the show. While fans also appreciated the animated reactions of the presenter.

During one trial, celebrity contestants Sair Khan and Malique Thompson-Dwyer were forced to feast on a range of stomach churning animal parts during a Bushtucker Trial. Viewers were amused to see Holly struggling to watch the celebs munch through a cow’s teat, sheep’s testicles and a dead scorpion - reacting more dramatically than the pair taking on the trial.

Her successful sting on the show caused viewers to beg ITV to make her a full time host of the show, and to give Ant his P45. One fan wrote online during the 2019 contest: “Tell you what would make #ImACeleb bring back Holly Willoughby instead of Ant... she was cracking with Dec last year!”
