Man Utd legend aims dig at Ten Hag as "stupid and messy" Sancho saga ends

Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag has been blasted for his handling of Jadon Sancho with the winger re-joining Borussia Dortmund on loan.

The Red Devils boss has come under fire from club legend Paul Ince, who insisted that the dispute between the player and manager should never have been played out in public. The demise began when Ten Hag publicly revealed he was unhappy with Sancho's effort levels in training last September.

That claim prompted an angry response from the England international, who took to social media and hit back with a post that suggested Ten Hag was lying and omitting Sancho from the side for reasons beyond performances in training.

Sancho has not been seen in a United shirt since, while also being exiled from the first-team fold entirely. The winger has had to train away from his team-mates and barred entry from first-team eating facilities, in what marks an incredible demise just two years after he was purchased by the club for £73million.

Now, with Sancho having sealed his return to Dortmund on a loan deal until the end of the current campaign, Ince has had his say on the situation. The United legend actually laid plenty of blame at the door of Ten Hag for making the problem public knowledge.

Speaking to luckyblock.com, Ince explained: "I don’t know exactly what went on behind the scenes, but what I do know is that when this situation happened, I never would have aired it out in public for the fans and media to hear.

"It would have been dealt with in house and never would have got to the press. The fact that it ended up being public and Sancho ended up using his Twitter just made the situation stupid and messy, and it’s not the right way to conduct those types of things."

Ince did go on to make clear that he feels returning to Dortmund is the best thing for Sancho at this point in his career, but did not rule out the prospect of him returning to United and turning things around ahead of next season.

The Red Devils icon added: "He needs to get out of the environment that he’s in at the moment and do the business on loan at Dortmund – go and play well and score goals and sit down with the manager next pre-season and start fresh."#

United have pocketed a £3million loan fee from Dortmund to compensate for Sancho's deaprture, but there is no option to buy the winger included in the loan deal. This is because the German giants cannot afford the 23-year-old's eye-watering £250,000 weekly wage.
