Carabao Cup semi-final draw date as Man Utd and Man City hoping to learn fate
The FA Cup third round has come and gone – and now it’s time for the Carabao Cup to take centre stage.
Manchester United are into the last four of the Carabao Cup after beating League One side Charlton Athletic at Old Trafford on Tuesday night. United picked up a 3-0 win thanks to an early strike from Antony and two late ones from substitute Marcus Rashford.
They will be joined in the semi-final draw by Newcastle United, who beat Leicester 2-0 with second-half goals from Dan Burn and Joelinton.
Wednesday will then see the other two matches take place, with Nottingham Forest hosting fellow Premier League strugglers Wolves and perennial winners Manchester City travelling to Southampton.

The draw for the semi-finals of the Carabao Cup will take place on Wednesday, January 11, straight after the last quarter-final between Saints and Man City.
That match should finish around 9.45pm, unless it goes to penalties, which are being used instead of extra-time to settle stalemates in the quarter-finals.
The draw will be hosted by TV presenter Mark Chapman, who will be joined by Lionesses legend Jill Scott and former Manchester City defender Nedum Onuoha.
How to watch the draw
The draw will be live streamed on the Carabao Cup Twitter account. It will also be broadcast live on Sky Sports Football and Sky Sports Main Event – the channels which are showing Southampton vs Man City.

The semi-finals will be played over two legs. They get underway later in January, before being completed in early February.
The first legs will take place on the week starting January 23, with the return fixtures then being played the following week. The final will be played on Sunday, February 26 at Wembley Stadium.
Unlike the quarter-finals – which will go straight to penalties if the scores are level at full-time – extra-time, and VAR, will be used in the semi-finals and final.
Liverpool are the current holders, having beaten Chelsea 11-10 on penalties last year following a 0-0 draw. Man City have won the Carabao Cup in five of the last seven seasons.
