With freezing temperatures and winter storms battering the UK, what could be better than jetting off somewhere sunny?

Thanks to the January travel sales, there are some cracking seat prices for travellers looking to escape the chilly weather. Some of our favourite airlines including EasyJet, Ryanair, Jet2 and Wizz Air are all offering dirt-cheap air tickets for one-way journeys, with one bargain operator even being able to get you as far as Egypt for less than £50.

Cash-conscious passengers can also find return airfares to Spain, Portugal, Greece and more, giving sunseekers the chance to enjoy higher temperatures just a short flight away.

Ryanair has some fantastic seasonal deals that could get you there and back with some change left over from a £50 note. The best available to book over in the next few weeks include Gran Canaria for £27, Faro in Portugal for £29 return, Malaga in Spain for £26 return, Fuerteventura for £43 return and Athens for £49 return.

Holidaymakers' favourite and purveyor of cheap flights, Jet2 also has some incredible deals on offer this winter. Head for the sun with one-way flights to Majorca for £27, Alicante for £37, Tenerife for £49 and Antalya in Turkey for £50.

If you fancy trying somewhere different in the next few weeks, how about paying a visit to the vibrant Scandinavian city of Rovaniemi in Finland for £41.99, or discover the gems of Eastern Europe with Easyjet's bargain prices to Slovenia for £23.99, Montenegro for £29.99, Croatia for £23.99 and Bulgaria for £20.99.

Budget airline Wizz Air wins hands down when it comes to distance. Passengers flying in March can get to Egypt for the ridiculously low price of £49.99 one way - that is an impressive five-hour flight time for £50. Touching down in the popular resort of Hurghada you can soak up its sub-tropical climate for an absolute bargain of a winter break to escape the grey in the UK.

For travellers looking to curate their very tailor-made holiday for 2024, the resort has lots of upscale hotels and five-star establishments that can be snapped up for less on Booking.com for a super cheap Red Sea holiday.

For even bigger bargains, Jet2 is offering a further 10% off flight prices as well as an additional 5% for passengers who sign up for a free myJet2 account this winter.
