Jake Cornish's controversial declaration ahead Love Island All Stars launch

Jake Cornish has implied he won’t act differently in the Love Island: All Stars villa compared to his last stint on the ITV2 series.

The 26-year-old reality star was on season seven of Love Island back in 2021 where he coupled up with 24-year-old Liberty Poole. The couple were bookies favourites to win the show - and the nation watched as they fell head over heels for each other over the course of eight weeks.

But just days before the live final, the romance hit the rocks as Liberty was shown footage of Jake revealing he wasn’t as attracted to her as she had been lead to believe. The revelation sent Liberty spiralling, destroyed her confidence, and ultimately caused the romance to completely implode.

Public opinion turned on Jake and he was slammed by Love Island fans - even though the star himself argued he hadn’t been unfaithful to Liberty like some of his co-stars had been to their other halves. Now Jake has a second chance at love in the reality show villa - and a chance to redeem himself.

But he has suggested he’s not learnt from his past mistakes - as he says he’s ready to act exactly as he did in season seven. Asked what he will do differently for Love Island: All Stars, Jake said: “There is nothing major I would do differently but I have definitely matured in the two years since first being on the show. I look at things differently and respond differently. When it comes to people's opinions, I don’t sit on the fence anymore. That is my way of life now, so I will take that into the Villa.”

Jake’s chance to make exactly the same mistakes have been laid out for him - as Liberty has also been unmasked as one of the twelve initial contestants taking part in the spin-off show. But it seems Jake has no idea she will be heading into the villa at the same time as her.

Asked how he will feel if an ex walks into the villa, Jake said: “Well there is only one and that’s Liberty. We never ended with any bad blood between us and everything happens for a reason. We just become two different people in the end.”

Jake has explained he hopes to find true love this time around, however. Asked why he thinks the Villa is the perfect place to find love, he replied: “It’s high spirits. The sun's out, everyone is happy and you’re taking part in a once in a lifetime experience. Who wouldn’t be excited to go into the Villa?”

Liberty was also asked how she would feel if an ex walked into the villa - and she hinted she is dreading such an event. She said: “It’s always going to be awkward isn’t it, it’s always going to be weird seeing someone that you’ve been with getting with someone else.”

She added: “I wish my exes nothing but the best. I'm going to be focused on my own journey so if it was to happen I won’t be worrying about them - so I'll stay focussed on my goal, which is to find love.”
