The Weakest Link viewers in hysterics at 'incredible' wrong answer by radio star

The Weakest Link viewers were left "howling" at the wrong answer about a sporting legend.

The BBC game show returned on Saturday night for a radio special with Romesh Ranganathan at the helm. Radio stars including Vicky Hawkesworth, Fi Glover, Rick Edwards, Snoochie Shy and Owain Wyn Evans took part in the game show. However, viewers were left with a far more amusing show than they first thought.

When it was BBC Radio 1 star Vicky's turn to answer a question, she made a hilarious mistake that has since gone viral online. Romesh asked her: "In sport the US-born tennis player who in the 1990s won all four Grand Slams and an Olympic gold medal is Andre who?"

Vicky quickly responded: "The giant." She had accidently referred to the 7ft4 wrestling giant instead of Grand Slam champion Andre Agassi. Rick Edwards burst out laughing at her answer, as he tried to contain himself before his question. Viewers at home were also amused by Vicky's response as one said: "Just saw this and spat my tea out."

Another added: "I'm howling at this!" Someone else commented: "Hahaha I just watched this incredible answer. Imagine Andre the giant on centre court." Vicky also got in on the joke as she took to social media when the show aired. She said: "Well I knew it couldn't be Peter Andre so this was the next best guess!

"How do we know he didn't play tennis in his spare time?! Would have really spiced up Wimbledon if he was a tennis player." Andre The Giant - real name André René Roussimoff - died in 1993 and his giant-like height was due to an excess of growth hormones. While Andre Agassi, now 53, is considered one of the greatest tennis players of all time.

Last year a former contestant on The Weakest Link revealed how he blagged his way to the final of the BBC quiz show. Mike Stratton, 55 - who has won more than £70,000 on other game shows - said he managed to get down to the last two of the programme after persuading unsuspecting players not to vote him off. He made 'secret pacts' with some of his fellow contestants not to evict each other.

Mike from Wigan, who appeared on the show when it was presented by Anne Robinson, said he spoke to seven out of the nine hopefuls without any of them realising they were part of his ballsy scheme. Opening up about his cunning plan, the quizzer, who has written a book called How to Get on Game Shows and Win £1000s, confessed: “I cheated on The Weakest Link. Every time somebody left the room, I went with them. I’d say something like, ‘I tell you what, they’re going to vote me and you off straight away, aren’t they?’

“So I said, ‘I won’t vote for you and you won’t vote for me, yeah?’ And I did that all day. By the time it came to film the show, there were only two people, who I hadn’t done it to. My name never got mentioned until there were three of us left: Me, a girl, and this really clever guy. And I looked at the girl, and I said ‘Me and you in the final?’ and she said, ‘Yep,’ and we voted this guy off."

Mike said host Anne 'applauded' his skullduggery when he was exposed. He said: “They all went and complained to Anne Robinson about me. But she loved it. She came and gave me a hug and everything. You’re allowed to collude with other people, you see, there’s nothing against it in the rules."
