The best Sunday roasts in the UK have been revealed, and two of the top ten are in London. Rate Good Roasts visit pubs nationwide and rank their roasts out of 100 percent.

In their end of year round-up list, they scored their roasts out of 100 percent and have created an end of year list of the definitive ranking of the top Sunday roasts for 2023. Two London pubs feature, with their roasts both scoring more than 90 per cent, My London reports.

This is especially impressive given the rigorous testing and high standard the Rate Good Roasts team put each pub through. On Instagram, Rate Good Roasts published their list, saying: "After another challenging year for the hospitality industry, we are proud to share the amazing work of chefs and restaurants across the country. Congratulations to this years Top 10."

The first London pub to be recognised is the Elgin in Maida Vale, which was ranked 5th best in the UK. The Elgin scored 94 percent in the Rate Good Roasts review, having been evaluated on several criteria such as meat, vegetables, sides, potatoes, Yorkshire puddings and drinks.

The Elgin scored a 10 out of 10 for both meat and vegetables, and photos included in the post show a stunning piece of pork and perfectly cooked medium rare beef, alongside fresh and vibrant greens. The enormous Yorkshire puddings, as well as the roast potatoes also scored top marks, and the pub was praised for it's service.

The combination of drinks, sides and grades were marked down just one point, and the venue itself was also given a 9 out of 10. The value for money was rated an 8 out of 10 - which made sense when you understand the price of the roasts, which range from £18 for the vegetarian option to £23 for the lamb rump.

The second pub to feature in the top ten roasts of the year ranking was the Jones & Sons x Madame Pigg in Dalston, which scored 91 per cent and ranked an impressive joint 8th with a pub in Leeds. The Jones & Sons x Madame Pigg was a six week pop up open early in 2023. It has now ended however you can still visit Studio Jones for roasts every Sunday.

The Rate Good Roasts people were huge fans of the pop up, giving the meat a 10 out of 10, as well as the venue at Studio Jones itself a 10. Nearly everything else scored 9 out of 10, apart from the gravy, which only got 8 out of 10.

Photos reveal an exquisite roasted chicken served alongside enormous Yorkshires and exquisitely cooked vegetables.
