Yo, I’ll tell you what I want, what I really, really want... it’s a first class stamp with a Spice Girl on it, please.

That’s what Post Office staff across the land will be hearing after Royal Mail released a collection of 15 stamps to mark the Spice Girls’ 30th anniversary in 2024.

It is the first time Royal Mail has dedicated a stamp issue to a female pop group. And they are only the sixth music group to feature in a dedicated issue, following The Beatles in 2007, Pink Floyd in 2016, Queen in 2020, The Rolling Stones in 2022 and Iron Maiden in 2023.

With more than 100 million global record sales across three decades, and nine UK No1 singles, Emma Bunton, 47, Geri Halliwell, 51, Mel B, 48, Melanie C, 49, and Victoria Beckham, 49 – aka Baby, Ginger, Scary, Sporty and Posh – are one of the most successful UK bands in music history.
