The Duke of York was mentioned by name 67 times in the much-anticipated unsealed documents naming alleged associates of paedophile financier Jeffrey Epstein.

The people listed were those named as associates of Epstein and there is no suggestion those listed either knew about his crimes or participated in any criminal behaviour.

The documents being unsealed are part of a 2015 lawsuit filed against Ghislaine Maxwell by one of Epstein's victims, Virginia Giuffre. She is one of dozens of women who sued Epstein saying he had abused them at his homes in Florida, New York, the U.S. Virgin Islands and New Mexico.

Giuffre said the summer she turned 17, she was lured away from a job as a spa attendant at Trump's Mar-a-Lago club to become a "masseuse" for Epstein - a job that involved performing sexual acts.

Giuffre also claimed she was pressured by Epstein into having sex with men in Epstein's social orbit, including Prince Andrew, the former New Mexico Gov. Bill Richardson, former U.S. Sen. George Mitchell and the billionaire Glenn Dubin, among others. All of those men denied her claims.

In 2022 Giuffre agreed to an out-of-court settlement with Prince Andrew after alleging she was forced by Epstein to have sex with him three times when she was 17. The settlement is not an admission of guilt and Andrew continues to deny any wrongdoing. That same year, Giuffre withdrew an accusation she had made against Epstein's former attorney, the law professor Alan Dershowitz, saying she " may have made a mistake " in identifying him as an abuser.

1: When questioned on Johanna Sjoberg's claim that she'd met Prince Andrew, Ghislaine said she was not sure if she was the one who made the introduction or not.

2: Ghislaine was asked whether she was on the island when the prince visited, confirming that she was, but only once. She was further grilled on whether there were any underage girls there at the time, to which she replied: "There were no girls on the island at all. No girls, no women, other than staff who work at the house."

3-4: Ms Giuffre called out Maxwell claiming she had not been at her London townhouse with Prince Andrew, calling it an "incredible story despite flight logs establishing her travelling to London [...] and despite a photograph [of] the three- Ms Giuffre, Prince Andrew and Defendant - all standing together in Defendant's home".

7 - 14: Prince Andrew's name is mentioned several times in a summary of Ms Giuffre's deposition notes. The questions she asked are listed below...

  • "Whether Defendant introduced [Johanna] Sjoberg to Prince Andrew."
  • "Whether Defendant could recall Ms. Giuffre being at Epstein’s New York mansion when Prince Andrew came to visit."
  • Whether Defendant introduced Ms. Giuffre to Prince Andrew in London."
  • "Whether Defendant could recall Prince Andrew being present in New York for a party where Johanna Sjoberg was also present.
  • Whether a picture depicting Prince Andrew, Ms. Giuffre and Defendant was taken at Defendant’s London town home.
  • Whether Defendant could recall anything about a puppet or caricature of Prince Andrew in Epstein’s home when Prince Andrew was there, including whether Ms. Giuffre was sitting on Prince Andrew’s lap with the puppet or caricature.

15 - 18: Ms Giuffre's deposition of Johanna Sjoberg on the same events also mentioned the Prince, claiming he put his "hand on their respective breasts".

  • Johanna confirmed that she witnessed Virginia when she was seventeen (17) in Jeffrey Epstein’s New York mansion with Prince Andrew and Ghislaine Maxwell.
  • Johanna also testified that Prince Andrew sat with Virginia and Johanna and took a picture with a puppet in his image that had its hand and Prince Andrew’s hand on their respective breasts.

19 -22: The next document is another deposition of Ms Sjoberg, which went into more detail about the alleged groping incident. Ms Sjoburg said she came into the living room and saw Prince Andrew sitting with Ghislaine before they pulled out a puppet with a caricature of the prince with the name "Prince Andrew" on it, which is when they realised who he was.

"It looked like him. And she brought it down and presented it to him; and that was a great joke, because apparently it was a production from a show on BBC. And they decided to take a picture with it, in which Virginia and Andrew sat on a couch. They put the puppet on Virginia's lap, and I sat on Andrew's lap, and they put the puppet's hand on Virginia's breast, and Andrew put his hand on my breast, and they took a photo."

23 - 32: Ms Sjoburg revisits the same incident, and said that the photograph was taken in a "joking manner". She confirmed that the meeting was the only time she met with the Prince. She was then questioned about whether Ms Giuffre had shared if she'd met the prince before this time in New York, and whether the prince had acted in a way to suggest he and Ms Giuffre had met before, to which she replied she hadn't. Ms Sjoburg is asked whether she believes Ms Giuffre is telling the truth about Maxwell directing her to have sex or participate in an orgy with the Prince.

33: The next document is Ms Giuffre's own deposition. The first mention of Prince Andrew is when the plaintiff is asked whether it's true that Maxwell ordered her to "give [him] a massage".

34: Ms Giuffre is presented with a list of names, including the prince, naming them as the men she was directed to sleep with.

"Other than Glenn Dubin, Prince Andrew, Jean Luc Brunel, Bill Richardson, another prince, the large hotel chain owner and Marvin Minsky, is there anyone else that Ghislaine Maxwell directed you to go have sex with?", she is asked.

"I am definitely sure there is. But can I remember everybody's name? No," she replies.

35: Ms Giuffre is then questioned about pages of her journal, which formed the basis of a Daily Mail article. The journalist "wanted to know about the Prince Andrew incident".

36: She is then asked about possessing the infamous photograph of herself, Prince Andrew and Maxwell, to which she replies: "I probably still have it. It's not in my possession right now."

37: A footnote says that Ms Sjoburg's testimony corroborates Ms Giuffre's testimony about Prince Andrew and being trafficked to sleep with him.

38-46: Another document detailing Ms Sjoburg's account is repeated, mentioning the prince several times.

47: A footnote points out that Ms Sjoburg's testimony about Prince Andrew is the type of material the defendant, Maxwell, has been "trying to avoid.

48 - 53: Another document about Ms Giuffre's dealing with the British press, going into more detail about the material supplied to the Daily Mail.

She said she was asked to provide "any knowledge that I had about my time1 with Prince Andrew." When asked about what the journalist was interested in, she replied: "She was interested in two things, really. How Epstein got away with so many counts of child trafficking and how was Prince Andrew involved in it."

54: Next is a document targeted at Giuffre for allegedly failing to comply with court demands. It reads: "In Plaintiff’s deposition, she revealed that she had a box of documents that included pictures, including perhaps a photograph of herself and Prince Andrew, but that she did not look through the box or provide any of its contents."

55: Andrew's name is then mentioned in a list of people that Ms Giuffre was required to submit any videos or photographs of.

56: The court then asked for "all documents concerning any income received by you from any media outlet in exchanged for your statements regarding [...] Prince Andrew."

57: They also asked for any phone records, letters or other communications related to the Prince.

58 - 67: It then went on to include a number of articles written about the prince in relation to Ms Giuffre's revelations, including . “Prince Andrew and the 17-year-old girl his sex offender friend flew to Britain to meet him,” Daily Mail Online."

“Unsavoury association: How Robert Maxwell's daughter 'procured young girls' for Prince Andrew's billionaire friend,” Daily Mail Online."

“Virginia Roberts' account of the explosive Prince Andrew 'sex slave' drama,” Daily Mail Online."
