EuroMillions winner Jane Park's ex-lover shot dead 'had £20k bounty on his head'
Lottery winner Jane Park's ex-boyfriend Marc Webley - shot dead during Scotland's Hogmanay celebrations - reportedly had a £20,000 bounty on his head.
Gangland figure Webley was gunned down in an attack outside the Anchor Inn on Granton Road, Edinburgh just before midnight. Armed police raced to the scene while paramedics tried to save the 36 year old, with witnesses saying all hell let loose shortly before the bells tolled to bring in the New Year. Locals reported hearing gunshots around the time of the incident, with one saying: "I thought it was fireworks at first then saw all the blue lights, ambulances and armed police. It was bedlam just before the bells."
Webley, 38, died from a head wound after a balaclava-clad gunman ambushed him outside the bar and fired the fatal shot. Another man, aged 39, was also injured and is receiving treatment in hospital. Police say the gunman jumped out of a red Hyundai Tucson to carry out the attack before driving away. A car believed to be linked to the murder was recovered by police yesterday in the Craigentinny area, four miles to the east of Granton. A gangland source has now told the Daily Record that £20,000 was offered to take down Webley.
The source said: “The guy had loads of enemies from Edinburgh and Glasgow. One of them wanted him dead and offered £20,000 to do the job. There’s a long list of suspects who could’ve ordered the hit. He was more than aware his life was in danger and was warned by the police too. Marc didn’t care, he wasn’t scared. He knew he’d go out that way. He seemed to accept that one day someone would get the better of him.”
The source added: “There’s rumours he was due drug money and he was clearly in a feud with someone going by his social media videos in the days and weeks before he was murdered. He was practically goading his enemy into doing something. He was sofa surfing for weeks and had knives in each room where he was staying.”
Man in 30s dies after being stabbed in park sparking police probeIt has also been revealed by police sources that there are CCTV images of the gunman without his balaclava on. A police source said: “The Major Investigation Team have recovered images which show the shooter.”
Webley had been due to stand trial for assaulting his ex-partner. It’s understood one of their children had been playing football when he attacked the mum of three, now 40, on the sidelines of the pitch. He was later charged with assault and was due to appear in court later this year. He also faced trial over alleged breach of the peace and driving offences last year.
He had previously been jailed for 11 years after shooting a drugs gang rival, and was linked to Euromillions winner Jane who made history after scooping the £1m jackpot at the age of 17. Jane left a single love heart as a tribute on the photograph. She is said to have called time on their relationship just three weeks ago.
She shared image of the loved-up pair before their split including one of them in a clinch. At the beginning of December she said: “There’s nothing worse than being single on a Sunday.” star Jane had looked smitten in previously posted pictures on of the pair embracing in a bar with a nod to the Lion King soundtrack as she captioned one, "can you feel the love tonight?" The pair were seen a day later at Edinburgh's Urban Bar and Grill in the Village Hotel.
She later shared a post from another influencer which said, "if it makes you happy f***ing go for it". “People are gonna talk about you regardless because if they talked about themselves, no one would listen,” they said.
Jane landed the windfall in 2013 and went on to launch an OnlyFans page, claiming to have made more than £25,000 selling topless snaps. She has previously revealed how she spent a chunk of her lottery winnings on holidays, cars, designer clothes and a new three-bedroom home, but claimed the novelty soon wore off and left her feeling "bored".
