Woman dies after falling off jet ski and having insides 'ripped apart'
A woman has been killed after a high-speed jet ski propeller tore through her insides.
Elena Spiryakova, 49, was on the back of the vehicle as her husband rode the waves of the Samara River, a tributary of the Volga, Europe's largest waterway. But at one point, Elena fell off the jet ski and plunged into the water. Back on the boat, her husband Oleg, 52, put his foot on the gas and the propeller struck her crotch and tore through her body.
Elena, who lived with her partner in Samara, sustained horrific, fatal wounds and was rushed to hospital, but could not be saved. Russian outlet Baza compared the injuries to her being hit with a "water hammer". Though the tragedy took place in July 2023, the case has only recently reached public attention after prosecutore revealed deatils ahead of Oleg's criminal court appearance negligent homicide. Documents detailed how the victim had been on the back of the jet ski as they rode along the river.
"After another turn, the woman could not stay on the jet ski and fell into the water, and at that moment her husband ‘hit the gas’,” said the report. "She sustained a serious 'hydraulic injury'. The victim was urgently taken to hospital, but Elena died the next day,” Baza wrote. Her relatives told the media outlet that a criminal case had been launched into her death.

Yağmur Koseoglu was enjoying the ride with her father when another craft lost control and ploughed into her. The youngster was killed on impact as her relatives watched the tragedy unfold. She was rushed to hospital following the collision but nothing could be done to save her life.

The accident took place at Sarimsakli Beach in Ayvalik last week. She died when another jet ski, reportedly being driven by a teenager, smashed into them at high speed. Her dad Okan told local media it was his daughter was excited to try out the popular water activity during their trip. An investigation into her death is still on-going.
The little girl dreamed of becoming a pop star, her broken uncle has said. The family, from Wood Green, London, were on a one-week break during the school holidays. Mehmet Goren, 39, paid tribute to “beautiful” Yagnmur, saying she was “always smiling” and had big dreams.
