The One Show viewers 'waiting for apology' as Waterloo Road star drops F-bomb

The One Show viewers joked they were waiting for the 'obligatory apology' from hosts after Waterloo Road actress Tillie Amartey accidentally swore live on air.

The 20-year-old star, along with Angela Griffin, Michelle Keegan and Joanna Lumley, appeared on the programme's first episode of the year to discuss her project with hosts Jermaine Jenas and Lauren Laverne. During one segment, the hosts talked to Michelle and Joanna about their new show Fool Me Once.

The Netflix series' description reads: "When ex-soldier Maya sees her murdered husband on a secret nanny cam, she uncovers a deadly conspiracy that stretches deep into the past." Michelle, who plays the main character Maya Stern, recalled filming in a glass-bottomed helicopter.

She was terrified of the glass as she was up so high. Guest Tillie was equally as nervous hearing the story.

Fellow guests let out a gasp and Tillie dropped the F-bomb live on air. Tillie seemed to say: "Oh f... I feel a bit sick." Fans noticed the blunder and rushed to X, formerly known as Twitter, to joke about it. "#TheOneShow did one of the guests just use the f*** word? They need to apologise," one user said.

Another added: "Pretty sure Tillie dropped the F here. Mind you I’m with her, I hate heights too. The glass-bottom Heli would scare the hell out of me. #TheOneShow," while one viewer commented: "Waiting for the obligatory #TheOneShow apology. What an F-bomb there."

Jermaine seemed to be the only one who noticed the blunder and looked over at her but remained focused on Michelle's story. Some fans thought Tillie looked embarrassed after swearing, with one user writing: "Poor Tillie, immediately embarrassed when she realised what she had said."

Tillie, who plays Stacey ‘Stace’ Neville in Waterloo Road, made her acting debut on CITV at the age of seven and has also appeared in David Walliams ’ Ratburger and starred alongside Sheridan Smith in The Teacher. Branding the actress “phenomenal”, Tillie says Sheridan has given her lots of excellent tips.

“She always offers me great advice. I just love her style,” she said. “She’s so natural and always taught me to not over-ham it. I’ve definitely carried that on to Waterloo Road, where I have room to develop a character.” Tillie, from Leeds, has grown up surrounded by strong women. She was raised by her single mum Charlotte, whose best pal is Spice Girl Mel B.

Tillie recalls how “Auntie Mel” would often pop around when she was a child and she has been to visit the pop star in Los Angeles. Mel also gave her some good advice to survive the cutthroat entertainment industry: to never doubt yourself, no matter what.
