People feel 'unsettled' after realising what unpopped popcorn looks like in bag

If you've been curious about what popcorn looks like while it's doing its business in the microwave, you're not alone.

Popcorn is an elite cinema snack, but if you're watching a movie at home it can be just as satisfying to pop a bag in the microwave, and after a couple of minutes you'll have the perfect savoury treat. But everyone who has attempted to make it at whole will know how hard it is to time properly because unlike a soup that's bubbling away, you can't see what's happening inside.

You might have a window on your microwave so you can look inside, but as you can't see inside the bag, it's hard to know when it's done, often leading to it getting burnt. Luckily, you can tell when your popcorn is done by listening to the sound of the kernels popping.

But it's not surprising that many people are keen to know what happens inside the bag. However, people have been left wishing they didn't know after a video surfaced online.

Some people have been left feeling 'uncomfortable' after finding out - and it's safe to say it's pretty weird to see. On the Quinn snacks YouTube video, the content creators opened a bag of popcorn to give a glimpse of what we normally can't see. In the video, you can see the popcorn kernels stuck together by a solid white substance, which is actually butter and oil.

Unpopped popcorn inside the bag looks quite strange

As the butter melts into a pool, the popcorn can be seen flying in all directions as the kernels pop. While people over on YouTube were 'thankful' to finally find out what unpopped popcorn looks like, others on Reddit were left wishing they didn't know - with one person saying it looks 'cursed'.

One social media user simply wrote: "Thanks I hate it," while another commented: "Ew. Imagine eating it like that lol."

The popcorn flew everywhere

A third person said: "I did not realise how unsettled I'd feel seeing what inside a bag of unpopped popcorn looks like. Truly cursed," while a fourth wrote: "How in the hell did I never think to open up a microwave popcorn bag and look inside in my whole damn life? Now that I see the inside I prefer to go back to thinking magic things happen inside."

However, others pointed to the fact that it would be incredibly hard to clean up the mess. One person wrote: "Imagine how satisfying it would be if you got that all cleaned up and your microwave didn't smell like butter for the rest of your life. But of course, that will most likely not happen," and someone else added: "You're NEVER going to get the smell of butter out of that thing haha."
