Jorge Masvidal has come out of retirement less than a year after hanging up his gloves as fans are convinced he is rematching Nate Diaz.

Masvidal, 39, challenged for the UFC welterweight title twice during his legendary career and won the symbolic 'BMF' belt when he beat Diaz in 2019. 'Gamebred' went on a dismal four-fight losing skid at the tail end of his career and retired from fighting last April after his defeat to Gilbert Burns.

The veteran announced his plans to return to fighting on Monday when he tweeted "unretired". YouTuber-turned-boxer Paul then replied to Masvidal's tweet by claiming he is going to box Diaz in his return. "Yeah yeah, going to box Nate Diaz. Come see when Dana gives you permission," he wrote.

Diaz left the UFC after tapping out Tony Ferguson in his final fight and he made his boxing debut against Paul last August. The UFC legend was dropped and lost a one-sided fight but fans think he is going to re-sign with the UFC for a fight against Masvidal in April. One user asked: "Is Jorge Masvidal coming back for UFC 300 Nate Diaz rematch?"

"I’d love to see him and Nate fight again. Masvidal was definitely winning the first time but Nate was answering back a lot. The referee and doctor called that fight off way too early," a second user wrote before a third added: "Could we see the BMF rematch at UFC 300 after Masvidal has hinted his return?"

It's likely that Masvidal is still under UFC contract having signed a new deal before his one-sided defeat to Colby Covington in March 2022. Masvidal started up his own promotion 'Gamebred Boxing' after retiring last year and even hinted at a boxing match of his own just two months ago.

“No names right now, but I can tell you it’s early next year, and I can tell you somebody is going to get killed," he told ESPN. Masvidal teased a fight against Paul after butting heads with the social media sensation online but he put any feud they had aside by appearing on his B/S podcast last June.
