One of Nostradamus's terrifying prophecies 'could come true' hours into 2024
French philosopher Nostradamus could see one of his 2024 predictions come true just hours into the New Year.
The prophet, real name Michel de Nostredame, has seen a number of his prophecies from his book Les Propheties come true over the years after it was released more than 450 years ago. He is said to have accurately predicted the rise of Adolf Hitler, the shooting of President John F Kennedy, the start of the Covid pandemic and even 2022's cost of living crisis.
Now the prophet appears to have had another successful prediction. Writing about 2024, he said: "The dry Earth will become more parched and there will be great floods."
Fans of the psychic reckon this may have referred to tsunami warnings issued in Japan today (Monday, January 1) following a 7.4-magnitude earthquake. Residents in several areas were told to "evacuate immediately" after the quake triggered a major tsunami warning with experts initially predicting waves could reach as high as 16.5ft (5m), the Daily Star previously reported.
Nostradamus also warned of a "very great famine through pestiferous wave," meaning more bad news could be on its way if the prediction turns out to be true. But it's not just natural disasters the fortune teller has foreseen here are some of his other predictions, Star Online says.

Royal ruckus
One of Nostradamus' predictions claims King Charles could be in for a bumpy ride this year. Les Propheties reads: "King of the Isles driven out by force... replaced by one who will have no mark of a king."
While the writings make no reference to a particular king, some have inferred the monarch in question could be the current head of the British monarchy. Mario Reading, analyst and author of the book The Nostradamus Prophecies, said the king could step down thanks to "persistent attacks on both himself and his second wife," Queen Camilla.
Nostradamus has a proven track record of making accurate predictions about the royals. He foresaw the death of Queen Elizabeth II in 2022 and reports suggest he even guessed her age correctly.
Naval war
The French philosopher has also predicted an escalation in international conflict in 2024. He wrote: "Red adversary will become pale with fear, putting the great ocean in dread."
Nostradamus fans reckon the "red adversary" could be communist China. The "great ocean" suggests fighting could take place at sea, possibly in the Indian Ocean.
Security experts have been keeping a close eye on China for some time. The east Asian country is even said to be gearing up for a space war against the US, reports The Telegraph.
New pope
Nostradamus also predicted the death of Pope Francis in 2024. The leader of the Catholic Church will turn 88 this December, and the mystic reckons next year could tragically be his last.
He wrote: "Through the death of the very old Pontiff, a Roman of good age will be elected."
There are several candidates who could vie for the top spot when the time comes. Anyone hoping to become the Pope must be male and baptised. The pope is then chosen from a group of cardinals and those under the age of 80 then vote for their new leader.
