Rylan Clark celebrated New Year's Eve with friends and family, including his mother Linda Clark, who seemed to embrace the festivities at a party following a "tough year".

The presenter, 35, and his mother, 71, marked the occasion at a gathering on Sunday night. Rylan shared footage from the event on his Instagram Story, showing that some guests danced and sang along to music at one point in the evening.

It included a clip of Linda, who was seen sporting a sparkly black top and trousers at the event, swaying along to music whilst stood in front of an illuminated Christmas tree at the party. She was seen beside another guest at the gathering.

Another clip showed Linda sat by a bar, whilst she joined Rylan and a group of guests singing along to Tina Charles' song I Love to Love. Linda appeared to be enjoying herself in the clips that were shared by her son with his followers.

It comes following a "tough year" for Linda, with it revealed in September that she had undergone surgery after "quite a bad fall" whilst on holiday in Spain with Rylan. She was said to have broken her arm and her leg in the incident.

Linda - who's experienced other health issues - appeared to reference the incident on her son's BBC Radio 2 show Rylan On Saturday over the weekend. She was invited to give an end of year speech to listeners on the radio show. Linda was introduced by Rylan, whose real name is Ross, as the Duchess of Essex. She then began the speech by saying to listeners: "Right everyone, you alright? It's been one hell of a year, ain't it Ross? Eurovision in Liverpool. The Lionesses coming so close. Becky Hill winning a Brit."

Seemingly referencing her accident, she said: "As you all know, it's been a tough year for me. I'd like to thank all the nurses, doctors, physiotherapists and pilot who have helped me get back on my feet. And of course you too, Ross."

She added during the speech on Saturday: "And how lovely it's been listening to Scott [Mills] and having Vernon [Kay] join Radio 2 properly. Lovely. Steve Wright's Sunday Love Songs is still the best show on radio. Sorry about that Ross."

Linda - who's been on Celebrity Gogglebox with Rylan - concluded the speech by telling listeners: "I hope 2024 is lovely for everyone listening. I'm off to Lakeside to get some new boots, as well as a ham and cheese toastie."
