Strictly's James Jordan hits back as fans accuse him of being 'insensitive'
Former Strictly Come Dancing pro James Jordan upset some fans with a money-related post on his Instagram page on New Year's Eve.
The dancer poked fun at his own finances and decided to crack a joke with his fans online on Sunday - but it seems not everyone quite understood James' humour.
James, who is married to fellow Strictly star Ola Jordan, shared the meme "Not trying to brag, but I have enough money not to work for the rest of the year" with his 263,000 followers as just a few hours of 2023 remained on Sunday night.
However, quite of few of the star's followers didn't check the date and time when looking at James' Instagram update - with some accusing James of being insensitive at a time when "people are struggling" as the joke flew over their head.
One follower wrote: "I like you but why would you need to post that when people are struggling", while another said: "Omg why post that! Surely you are joking , NHS workers people struggling food banks , please tell me you are joking". Others asked if James "had been hacked", with one even telling the star: "So pleased for you. We are all skint and you’re posting that. How about we don’t sign up to your weight shred. And just watch our calorie count and walk more often."
Strictly's Molly Rainford and Tyler West fuel romance rumours while on tourThis isn't the first time James has caused controversy with his comments and he defended his post, writing: "does make me giggle how simple some people are" in response to someone defending his post. "Love reading the comments where people haven't twigged," one of the star's fans who got the joke quipped in the comments, with another adding: "It’s bonkers how quickly people are ready to have a go at someone, it can really take away the funny side of life."
James Jordan got into trouble last year for saying not-so-nice things about his wife Ola's new mum figure. He told a paper, "Sex is definitely not better with the mum and dad bods, I can't throw her about any more like I am used to doing. I will say I prefer Ola smaller. Of course, I still love her and fancy her." He didn't back down when people got upset, saying "you're not allowed to be honest today in this world."
He also had a bit of a fight online with BBC Radio 2's Jeremy Vine after Jeremy talked about a problem he had on the road. James didn't agree with Jeremy's story and said maybe Jeremy should learn more about using the road, not the van driver. When Jeremy stopped James from seeing his posts online, James joked it was "a late Christmas present".
