Fears are growing for the well-being of a 15-year-old boy who was last seen over a week ago, with police saying they are "concerned."

Adnan Ahmed, who sometimes also goes by the name Asif Khan, was last seen leaving Blackburn Central High School, in his school uniform at around 3 pm on Thursday 21 December. His uniform includes a white shirt, purple tie and black blazer and he is described as 5ft 11in and of slim build with dark curly hair.

The police say they have investigated several lines of enquiry from around the time Adnan went missing. This was before his image had been shared and the public was asked for their help. The investigation included various checks, door-to-door and CCTV enquiries. Now, the force is in a position to ask for further help to bring Adnan back home.

A police spokesperson said: "There have been lots of enquiries we’ve completed offline in the time that Adnan has been missing, before sharing his image and asking for the public’s help today. This offline investigation has included various checks, door-to-door and CCTV enquiries. We’re now in a position to ask for further help to bring Adnan home. If you think you have information that could help our search for Adnan, please contact us on 101 quoting log quoting log 1347 of 21 December 2023."

Meanwhile, a desperate hunt has been launched at the other end of the country for a missing girl of a similar age to Adnan. Leah Mullins was last seen at 7.30pm last night in Sherston, near Malmesbury. Wiltshire Police have now revealed fears that she was seen getting into a "dark" or burgundy car.

A police spokesperson said: "We are urgently appealing to the public to help find 14-year-old Leah Mullins who has been reported missing in Sherston, near Malmesbury. Leah was last seen at about 7.30pm this evening (29/12) and her family are growing increasingly concerned for her welfare. She is a vulnerable person and may appear to be confused or upset. Leah was reportedly seen getting into a possibly burgundy or dark-coloured older estate car near the Angel Pub on Sherston High Street."

She was wearing a pair of blue fleece shorts and a white Bambi T-shirt, but not a coat and has blonde hair often worn loose. Cops have now appealed for a man walking two small white dogs at the time of Leah's disappearance to get in touch. Detective Inspector Debbie Hatch said: "We are getting increasingly concerned for Leah's safety. We would urge anyone with information to get in touch with us as soon as possible.

"We would particularly like to speak to a man who was on Sherston High Street at around the same time Leah is thought to have got into a car. If this was you, please do get in touch, as we believe you may have information that could help us. We would also appeal to Leah; if you are reading this to get in touch with us straight away. You are not in any trouble. We just want to make sure that you are safe."
