Dippy Egg's identity on Masked Singer 'confirmed' after fans spot Bake Off clue
The Masked Singer viewers are convinced they know who Dippy Egg is on the ITV series.
Dippy Egg was one of six contestants who took to the stage on Saturday night, while dropping huge hints about their real identity. Clues included links to Bake Off with possible hints to judges on the show, as well as mentions of cake and soft centres.
The show returned on Saturday night, with panellists Davina McCall, Jonathan Ross and Mo Gilligan trying to work out the identity of six new characters, with guest Charlie Simpson. Confirmed for the latest lineup were Cricket, Weather, Marypole, Bigfoot, Dippy Egg and Rat.
Also taking part are Air Fryer, Bubble Tea, Owl, Piranha, Eiffel Tower, Chicken Caesar. Dippy Egg took on Bigfoot in the first episode of the series in a bid to go through to the next episode.
After hearing them sing and seeing the clues, some fans were convinced they knew who was under the mask, with links to farms and animals too. Bake Off host Noel Fielding was the name given as the likely celebrity donning the egg costume.
Corrie's Sue Cleaver says I'm A Celebrity stint helped her to push boundariesOne viewer said: "Could Dippy Egg be Noel Fielding," as another tweeted: "Convinced the egg is Noel Fielding." A third added: "the egg sounds a bit like Noel Fielding," while a fourth said: "its noel fielding."
Host Joel Dommett couldn’t wait for the show to start and previously said: "Honestly, they are the best costumes ever. If they don’t make you smile, well, get out! Air Fryer is unbelievably silly. It's so liberating to be a part of a show where first of all, people really enjoy it and also from my point of view, any idea I have, it's fair game. Even when it comes to the suits!
"I think we've definitely got some of the best vocalists we've ever had on the show and we've had some really incredible ones in the past. The show goes through an interesting meandering of, we are all here for all the new characters, but then maybe the better singers start to get through in the last rounds, usually the final. Let's be honest, it’s usually really incredible singers left at that point. This year I really do feel like we've got some of the best we've ever had."
Talking about the costumes, Jonathan Ross said: "I love all of them. I really loved Weather. I thought that was a really beautiful, quite romantic, quite poetic looking costume. I liked Piranha a lot. They're fun, I have to say. Bubble Tea is great. Well, Bubble Tea and Air Fryer make the show very, very modern, don't they? There's a couple of phrases that weren't in common conversation two or three years ago, and now we've got them dancing on primetime ITV1!"
