There's nothing like a keen-eyed house guest to point out decorating fails, especially when they are awkward. And one teen decided to bring her aunt's interior blunder to the internet.

A niece has outed her aunt's bathroom fail after posting a picture online which has gone viral. Taking things in her stride and much amused herself, the aunt has decided to leave the bathroom as it is, allowing the decoration fail to live in its internet fame glory.

Yaimerie was visiting the Dominican Republic on a holiday in 2020 and decided to stay with her aunt at her home. Upon entering the bathroom, she picked up on the awkward translation blunder as the bathroom tiles featured a written design that her aunt had no clue about - because she doesn't speak a word of English.

The white tiled walls were broken up by a banner running around the middle consisting of a starfish leaning up against a pile of folded towels. In the top left corner of the tiles, which ran around the bathroom, it says 'Sample text...'

Finding the situation unbelievably funny, the teen snapped a photo and shared it to social media with the caption: "B**** I land in Dominican Republic earlier and I go to use my aunt's bathroom, this is their tile I'm screa. [sic]"

In her haste and excitement to upload what she had discovered online, she admits she didn't check her grammar or spelling, leaving the post "all over the place." But bad grammar didn't stop anyone from understanding why she'd been so eager to share the perfect viral post. The message gained more than 82,000 likes online.

Yaimerie, who was studying Kinesiology at Louisiana State University at the time, said: "She doesn't speak any English so that's why she probably didn't see it as a big deal when they got those tiles for her bathroom. When I first saw the tiles I thought it was in a fever dream, but it was so funny to me."

"I told my aunt about how it went viral but after that, my cousin and I had to explain why it was funny, she thought it was kind of funny too. She's going to leave the tiles like that, it's more funny than embarrassing and not that big of a deal."

Yaimerie has since told her aunt about the mistake on the tile who to her credit has taken it quite well. Her aunt now refers to the room as the "famous bathroom." One person commenting on the Twitter (X) post said: "I feel like buying Shutterstock stock image wallpaper now."
