New Ant & Dec quiz Limitless Win will offer contestants eye-watering top prize
Contestants on Ant and Dec’s “ground-breaking” gameshow stand to win more than £1million.
In Limitless Win, pairs of contestants answer questions to climb the world’s first never-ending money ladder. The previous highest prize handed out by the Geordie duo was £500,000 - but we can reveal there is a bigger winner in the new series, which kicks off on January 6 on ITV.
Speaking about potential big money winners, Ant, 48, said: “More contestants climb over a million pounds on our ladder than we’ve ever had before. And big wins. What can I say about the big wins Dec?” Dec, 48, added: “Not too much! Safe to say, it’s a ground-breaking series in more ways than one.”
Asked if the pair were any closer to bankrupting ITV, Ant said: “Yes! We’ve had more people climb the ladder than ever before and this series sees the biggest win in the show’s history.” Dec added: “There were a lot of accountants around the studio looking even greyer than normal!”
In February, mother and son Tracey-Jane and Troy Beaumont reached the highest ever spot on the money ladder, climbing to over £1m. But the Liverpool pair failed to bank the cash. The questions are numerical ones, and contestants have to get as close as they can without going over. Dec said: “Our favourite questions are things like, how many segments are there in a Toblerone? Pay attention to all the chocolates and sweets you’ve been eating over Christmas – you might need to know how many Matchmakers are in a box!”
Corrie's Sue Cleaver says I'm A Celebrity stint helped her to push boundaries- Ant & Dec’s Limitless Win returns Saturday, January 6, 8:30pm on ITV1 and ITVX.
But £1million has been won before ...
If someone wins over a million pounds on Limitless Win it would be rare, but not the first time it has ever happened on British TV.
Graham Fletcher won £1.5 million on ITV’s Red Or Black game show in September 2012, which was also hosted by Ant and Dec.
After two rollovers of £500,000, the carpenter who was 30 at the time, won the 50/50 chance-based quiz and took home the British TV record prize fund.
Housewife Sarah Lang has also won more than a million in prize money on British TV.
She took home £1million in the game show Poker face in 2006 - which was again hosted by Ant and Dec, but also won a further £32,000 when she appeared on the National Lottery programme In It to Win It in 2005.
There have also been six winners of the top prize of £1million on British TV in Who Wants To Be A Millionaire, the last one being Donald Fear in September 2020.
