TV presenters Emma Willis and Rylan Clark took over the reins of This Morning on Wednesday.

The duo, who have both appeared on Big Brother in different roles, hosted the popular daytime show from a festive ITV studio. The episode featured chats with comedian Mo Gilligan about the new series of The Masked Singer. Emma and Rylan also shared tips on how to deal with Christmas bloat, while chef Phil Vickery revealed his recipe for turning Christmas leftovers into a tasty pie.

Viewers were treated to highlights from past shows, including Holly Willoughby's return as she and Dermot O'Leary interviewed Frozen star Idina Menzel. In another throwback clip, Josie and Dermot chatted with American pop star Pink. As the show progressed, viewers shared their thoughts on social media platform X, formerly known as Twitter.

Fans know the show often gets a shake-up during holiday periods, including the festive season, featuring guest presenters like Craig Doyle, Mollie King, Rylan Clark and Lisa Snowdon.

Interestingly, Alison Hammond and Dermot OLeary fronted a prerecorded Christmas Day special. More recently, they've been thrust into the spotlight after Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby decided to leave the programme.

Phillip made headlines when he announced in May he was leaving This Morning due to backstage rumours of a rift with Holly saying they had "become the story". He later left ITV entirely after confessing to an "unwise but not illegal" relationship with a younger male workmate, all before Holly's own exit announcement on October 10.

Pouring her heart out in a social media post, Holly wrote: "I have let ITV know today that after 14 years, I will not be returning to This Morning." She expressed the honour she felt being part of the show's history and shared it was a decision made for herself and her family.
