Ratcliffe's net worth vs Glazers as British billionaire readies Man Utd changes
British billionaire Sir Jim Ratcliffe is ready to make a big splash at his beloved Manchester United, with the former chemical engineer and Ineos owner completing a deal to acquire 25 per cent of the Old Trafford Club.
The £1.2 billion deal with the Red Devils' current ownership, gives Ratcliffe and Ineos control of football operations, plus a say in the commercial side, with a January transfer window also around the corner.
United have struggled, with Erik ten Hag's team crashing out of the Champions League, finishing bottom of their group, while also struggling in the Premier League.
The Glazers have long faced calls to sell the legendary English football Club but stood firm amid strong pressure from Qatar's Sheikh Jassim bin Hamad al Thani, who was interested in a multi-billion-pound takeover.

Sir Jim Ratcliffe Net Worth
Ratcliffe will provide a significant cash boost, with the Brit worth a whopping £18.3bn, according to Forbes. That's around four times the wealth of the Glazer family.
Ratcliffe also has significant experience in football, already owning French club Nice and Swiss side FC Lausanne-Sport. His ruthless and highly-effective running of chemical giants Ineos will provide United with a much-needed confidence boost.
"As a local boy and a lifelong supporter, I am very pleased that we have been able to agree a deal with the Manchester United Board that delegates us management responsibility of the football operations of the Club," Ratcliffe said. "Whilst the commercial success of the club has ensured there have always been available funds to win trophies at the highest level, this potential has not been fully unlocked in recent times."
Glazer Family Net Worth
According to Forbes, the Glazer family are worth a combined £3.6bn. Man Utd's worth is a significant chunk of that, with the £700 million-plus deal worth over six-times that amount as of 2023.
The Glazers' timing of announcing the deal before Christmas, and off the back of a 2-0 loss to West Ham, has been criticised by United legend Gary Neville. But the Sky Sports pundit is holding out hope that Ratcliffe can use his 25 per cent stake as a springboard to suck up more influence in his beloved Club and make the necessary changes. "Manchester United 2023 has been a disgrace to the end," Neville said on Twitter.
"The timing of this is truly awful and no functioning organization would even think about it. Anyway all the very best to Jim Radcliffe and I hope he can somehow work out a way to get the club right again and back to being something respectable on and off the pitch."
Among big changes with Ratcliffe's entrance at United, legendary manager Sir Alex Ferguson will see his role at the Club increase. Ferguson's advice will be sought out by Ratcliffe, while Ten Hag's role will also change.
They will also bear responsibility for everything on the pitch, including signings, and the hiring and firing of managers and football staff that could have Ten Hag looking over his shoulder.
