It's possibly one the few jobs which sounds even more James Bond than 007 himself.

And now the MI6 is looking for top security officials, provided you're up to the tough criteria needed to protect Britain's most valuable secret agents. Hopefuls applying for the service's Security Officer position need a "good level of physical fitness" and be able to monitor security systems and carry out searches.

The dream role involves carrying out security at the Secret Intelligence Service's HQ in Vauxhall, South London, which is one of the most highly protected buildings in the country housing agents just like 007. As well as day-to-day security, you'll be required to search people coming into the building to protect agents from potential attacks, as well as responding to alarms.

The £45,839 role will also need someone able to work 48 hours a week on average, with the requirement of weekends, nights and bank holidays, too. The MI6 is offering the statutory 25 days of annual leave per year, although this rises to 30 after five years.

Applicants will also be added to the "excellent" pension scheme and will be offered an interest-free loan for train travel. There is also a restaurant and coffee bars at the offices.

The job advert reads: "We're MI6, also known as the Secret Intelligence Service. Our mission is to protect the security and economic well-being of the UK from overseas threats such as regional instability, terrorism, and cyber-attacks."

"As a Security Officer at MI6, you'll help us keep our spaces secure and our people safe. Day-to-day, this involves conducting searches, monitoring security systems, and responding to alarms and incidents as they arise. In this role, your interactions matter just as much as your vigilance."

"As the first point of contact for guests, you'll be the friendly face that greets delegates, staff, and the public. Every day, you'll interact with people from all walks of life, keeping track of who comes in and out, handling reception duties, and making sure everyone feels welcome and secure."

It adds: "You don't need any previous security experience for this role because we're ready to train the right person. What's most important is your confidence, your ability to handle challenges head-on, and your adaptability in unexpected situations. Effective communication is vital and you'll possess a good level of physical fitness that allows you to carry out your duties comfortably. "
