Carter family's harrowing tragedies amid Bobbie Jean, Aaron, and Leslie's deaths
The House of Carters offered fans an inside looking into the relationship dynamics within one of the world's biggest boybander's family.
With Nick Carter's career at record-breaking heights in Backstreet Boys and younger siblings Leslie and Aaron Carter following in his footsteps, the family's reunion in Los Angeles just made sense. Joining the musical brothers on the show was Bobbie Jean "BJ", Angel, and Leslie. The sisters all brought their own unique energy to the show.
Years after its 2006 debut, only two siblings from House of Carters are still alive — Nick and Angel. The other three Carter kids tragically died in the years since.

Leslie was the first Carter sibling to pass away. In 2012, at only age 25, she slipped and fell in shower before falling asleep and not waking up. Before her nap, she had complained about not feeling well. While the official cause of death wasn't branded as an overdose, a note was made on Leslie's chart that one occurred.
Aaron Carter fans outraged as Grammy Awards snub star from memorial segmentA medical report revealed she took a mix of Xanax, Zyprexa, and a muscle relaxer. The family held a funeral for her, but Nick did not attend. He told Dr. Phil later that when his father called to inform her of his passing, “immediately the conversation turned into not about her death and not about the actual passing and what had occurred, (but) more about themselves. ... And then I started to get blamed by the rest of the family.”
Years after his sister's passing, Aaron arrived at a similar fate. In Nov. 2022, the singer died at the young age of 34. His death was ruled accidental, but drugs were involved in the incident. Aaron was found dead at home in his bathtub. The medical examiner eventually ruled that he was "incapacitated while in the bathtub" before drowning.
Aaron struggled with addiction in life. During a time where he thought he had managed his drug issues, he told People: "I'm happy that I came out on the other side. I was a very happy baby growing up. [Now] I just want to have fun, be healthy — mind, body, soul, emotions … all of those things, and really be responsible for my own actions too."
Most recently, Bobbie Jean reportedly died in Dec. 2023. However, very few details are known yet about her death. Her mother, Jane Carter, told TMZ: "I am in shock from learning of the sudden death of my daughter, Bobbie Jean; and I will need time to process the terrible reality of this happening for the third time. When I am able to think clearly, I’ll release a fuller statement; but until then I would request to be left to grieve in private."
