Matt Le Tissier had furious phonecall with Jamie Carragher over spitting scandal
Matt Le Tissier has revealed he received an angry phone call from Jamie Carragher after he brought up the Liverpool legend's spitting scandal.
The ex-Reds star turned pundit is a favourite for Sky Sports viewers, but his role was in major jeopardy back in 2018. He was filmed spitting towards a car with a 14-year-old girl in the passenger seat after the driver had mocked him following a Liverpool defeat.
Le Tissier, who has copped criticism for his controversial views on topics including the coronavirus, left the broadcaster in 2020 after a Soccer Saturday reshuffle. Upon leaving, he spoke out about how Sky backed Carragher after he made an apology for his actions, but were quick to move Le Tissier on when they had the chance.
And it appears the pair recently had a furious bust-up when Carragher took offence to what Le Tissier said. He was asked on the World Class Stamp Podcast whether he prefers Neville or Carragher and responded: "I would say Gary. Jamie isn't my favourite person in the world. I upset him apparently. He didn't like it, he rang me up last summer. He had the right hump. I found it quite funny.
"He was a bit upset. Talking about when I got sacked at Sky, and I asked them if it was anything to do with my social media post when they sacked me, because they didn't say specifically that it was. Their answer was that we do have to take into consideration the reputation of our company.

"You didn't seem to bothered about the reputation of your company when you re-employed Jamie Carragher after he spat at that young girl. Jamie got a bit upset that I brought that up again. He got my number off Phil Thompson and rang me up."
Le Tissier claimed Carragher said he was "bang out of order to bring out that on the podcast". The Sky pundit accepted responsibility for his action but said "you shouldn't be bringing it up again".
The Southampton legend thinks that Carragher has now blocked him on social media but had no issue taking on his former Sky colleague.
Le Tissier added on his fiery conversation with Carragher: "I was asked a question and I told the truth. You're the one that did what you did and you have to live with the consequences of that for the rest of your life. He started having a go again. 'Jamie, I'm 54, I don't care about you or your opinion. I'm fine about all that'."
