West Ham could leapfrog Manchester United with a win at the London Stadium on Saturday as both sides embark on a busy Christmas period.

The Hammers are just a single point behind United, sitting in eighth place as Erik ten Hag’s side occupy seventh position. David Moyes’ team have been in good form in the league and will hope that their 5-1 defeat at Anfield in Wednesday’s Carabao Cup quarter final was just a blip.

Last weekend saw United draw 0-0 at Liverpool, a positive result considering United’s recent difficulties, but face a tough fixture against their former manager David Moyes on Saturday. West Ham beat Wolves 3-0 in their last match at the London Stadium, with Mohamed Kudus and Lucas Paqueta in particularly impressive form as the Irons have won four of their last six matches in the league.

United, meanwhile, have won just once in their last four games and have lost ground to the leading contenders in the league as a result. They have won on two of their past three visits to the London Stadium, but lost on their most recent trip to East London, with a 1-0 loss coming in early May against the Irons.

Team news

West Ham remain without one of their key attacking threats, with Michail Antonio sidelined by a knee injury. In addition, Nayef Aguerd and Maxwel Cornet have both been out of action having suffered from a virus but both could be available this weekend.

United, meanwhile, continue to contend with a lengthy injury list and could be without as many as 11 outfield players. Diogo Dalot will be suspended this week following two yellow cards at Anfield last weekend but Bruno Fernandes is set to return after his suspension.
