Kate Middleton uses a particular trick to prevent her from being spotted in public when she is keen to go out alone on a private outing, a source has revealed.

The Princess of Wales is married to Prince William and the information was revealed by former Vanity Fair editor Tina Brown in her most recent tell-all book, The Palace Papers.

According to Tina, Kate would set her alarm for the early hours of the morning, when she could leave the royal households to have some "me time" in public without being pestered, The Daily Record reports. The magazine journalist stated that the royal would go to her favourite places to enjoy some rest and relaxation before the day began and anyone else was there.

Going out at such an early time, also meant the Duchess avoided photographers and reporters, in addition to ordinary citizens who might recognise her. With no one to follow her around, the Princess could also "nourish her life", Tina explained.

For the majority of the time, this strategy has served her well, but she has been caught out on occasion. For example, the royal was previously seen visiting a David Hockney exhibition at the Royal Academy in London on a secret visit, which was a failure after her cover was blown.

When William and Kate got married in 2011, the princess made sure to discover ways to fulfil her interests and preserve her individuality despite her royal obligations. Yet the future King himself was the one to help the couple locate some privacy when they first began dating.

It was when they were studying at St Andrews University in Scotland together, which is were the duo met. It's been said that the couple used to sneak off to a secret home on the royal Balmoral Estate with one another, which is a sacred place to them and where they would spend several days together at the beginning of their relationship, whilst away from the public's gaze.

Commonplace activities at the estate include picnics, barbecues, woodland walks, fly fishing and deer stalking. The couple now like taking their three children Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis with them when they head to Balmoral.

The royal couple now have their own house on the Aberdeenshire estate which is a three-bedroom cottage named Tam-Na-Ghar. It's thought the royal family will be staying on the Balmoral Estate for most of the summer because it was a tradition when the late Queen was on the throne.

But now with King Charles as the new head of the family, it will be much more "relaxed", an insider said when speaking to OK! They added that all the royals had been so "in awe" of Queen Elizabeth.
