Jane McDonald has been awarded with Entertainment Daily's National Treasure Award and took to social media to thank her fans for their votes.

The 60 year old former Loose Women star posted an image of herself wearing a black velvet dress and wrote:"I'm thrilled to have won the Entertainment Daily's National Treasure award! It's an absolute honour. Thank you to everyone who voted for me." And her followers were quick to respond.

One person said: "Huge congratulations. You deserve this award. You bring so much joy to household's even when you were going through your own turmoil." A second person commented: "You are the only person who could have won. Our National Treasure - always."

A third posted: "Congratulations Jane. Well deserved. Currently watching your cruise series. I love it! Particularly your singing at the end." Meanwhile a fourth person said: "Congratulations Jane, what a way to end the year, we have always known you are our National Treasure. Well done Jane, can't wait to see you in Norwich next year."

Earlier this month, Jane shared the news that she is hosting a special Christmas carol concert which is to be broadcast on ITV at 11.30am. Announcing the news she said: "Join me on @itv this Christmas Eve as I host a traditional Christmas Eve celebration from St Elisabeth's Church in Greater Manchester.There will be appearances by Coronation Street star Jodie Prenger, singer/songwriter Jerub, West End Leading Lady Marisha Wallace, Anna Lapwood & the Pembroke College Chapel Choir, multiplatinum-selling opera quartet G4, and I'll be picking up the microphone for two incredible festive performances. On ITV, at 11.30pm on Sunday 24th December."

Jane posted a picture of her in a sparkly jacket that she teamed with a black shirt and a pair of trousers. And fans couldn't contain their excitement: "Midnight mass, JANE IS JESUS," and Marisha commented: "MY GIRL!!! I'm so happy people get to finally see us together. A double act."

Back in September Jane revealed that she was open to dating again after the tragic loss of her partner, who died of cancer. Eddie Rothe died in 2021 of lung cancer. Jane told viewers while on Loose Women: " I'm doing all right actually, due to my mates. I've got a real great network of girls. All single, some of us widowed and we have a great time. We go away and we eat out and we do things together and laugh until we have wet pants so I'm enjoying this part of my life now."

On whether she was ready to date again, she added: "I was very blessed to have a great relationship and I don't feel as if my life needs a man to complete it. I'm not saying I'm never gonna date again, I think that would be lovely. But, I don't feel as if I need someone in my life to make it complete."
