Amy Dowden supported by husband in last hospital appointment before Christmas
Amy Dowden's husband has supported the Strictly star to her last hospital appointment of the year, as she undergoes treatment for cancer.
The professional dancer was diagnosed with stage three breast cancer in May, before going through a full mastectomy. Amy, 33, was joined by her devoted husband Benjamin Jones, in the photos she shared on her Instagram. Thanking hospital staff, Amy, wearing a festive jumper, joked the large injection she took a photo of was her "early Christmas present", adding that cancer is the "gift that keeps on giving".
She wrote: "The last apt before Christmas, then we are getting into Christmas spirit and taking out lovely dance teachers out!! Ready to spend Christmas with my loved one."

The Strictly pro joked that she had an "early Christmas present" (Instagram)Amy and Ben got married in 2022, a year before she was diagnosed. She found a lump in her breast the day before she went on their belated Maldives honeymoon. Following her diagnosis, Amy was left unable to have a celebrity partner on Strictly this year, instead taking time out to focus on her health.
Amy, who finished her eighth and final round of chemotherapy, had planned to perform in the Strictly final last weekend. But her plan was scuppered after breaking her metatarsal in November, after developing neuropathy due to the chemo. This meant she had a temporary loss of feeling in her hands and feet, causing her to land on her foot on an angle and break the bone.

But despite being unable to perform a full routine, she still made an appearance in the background of the pros' performance. Fans were delighted to see the Strictly favourite on stage, taking to X to share their excitement.
One person said: " Actually crying at Amy being back on stage #Strictly #StrictlyFinal", another fan put: "Amy Dowden, The Queen! #StrictlyFinal #Strictly" with heart emojis while someone else commented: "It’s got me all emotional seeing Amy in the pro dance."
Elsewhere, another social media user said: "So many tears shed already….and that’s just for AMY #strictly" with a heart, another viewer wrote: "Did I just scream and burst into tears when I saw Amy? YEP #Strictly #StrictlyFinal #StrictlyComeDancing" with someone else saying: "Kiterally burst into tears at Amy appearing in the final professionals routine. #strictly."
Last week, Amy teased her surprise while speaking to Lorraine Kelly. She said: "I've got a little surprise moment in the final and even that, I was there on Monday and I was with Jason Gilkison, and I just burst into tears because you know, I have had what I love the most taken away for me. I just find that so cruel!"
Lorraine added: "We're not going to give it away but on Saturday, look out for a wee surprise from Amy!"
