This Morning's Craig Doyle leaves Josie Gibson alone on air as he rushes off

This Morning's host Craig Doyle had a bit of a Christmas panic on the show, as he made a quick exit from the studio, leaving his co-host Josie Gibson alone.

The 53-year-old presenter was worried about festive traffic and wanted to get home early on Thursday's show, 21 December. During a shopping segment, consumer reporter Alice Beer asked Craig and Josie if they were travelling for Christmas.

Craig replied: "If everyone can clear the M4 at 12:30 for about 25 minutes I'd be really, really happy, thank you so much. But it does get you into a bit of a panic, doesn't it, just the roads, trains, air, all of it."

But when Alice warned him that 12:30 was one of the busiest times to travel and that the M4 had been shut at junction 12 the previous day, Craig quickly got up from his desk and rushed out of the studio, saying: "See ya!"

Josie was left to host alone for a moment, telling viewers: "Thank you, my co-host has tried to get home, come back in you! Come back here, you've got a job to do, you're not leaving yet! You'll get home."

Craig soon came back, telling her: "They said it's going to be absolutely fine." The presenters then continued on with the show. Later, on Loose Women, Josie shared her scary health scare after I'm A Celebrity.

She explained: "When I came out I was on the flight coming home and I just started to feel really unwell. I was shivering. And then when I got back I had severe tonsillitis. I couldn’t breathe, so I got taken to hospital and they put me on a drip to get the swelling down so I could breathe again."

"“It was a bit touch and go if I was going to make This Morning. So I just want to thank everyone who works at the RUH in Bath – without you I wouldn’t have been able to do This Morning, they really, really took care of me.”

Katie Piper then asked her how she was doing now. “Sometimes I’ve been hanging on by a thread. But it’s tonsillitis, you can’t catch it. I was sat there in A&E and I heard them call Josie Gibson and I heard the lady behind go, that’s that girl off the jungle!”

She added that it was uncertain if she'd be able to make it to This Morning. Josie narrowly missed out on a spot in the final on I'm A Celebrity, with Nigel Farage going on to finish in third place behind runner-up Tony Bellew and King of the Jungle Sam Thompson.
