The supermarket price war ramps up with Iceland slashing the price of Christmas veg to just 1p to help with the cost of the festive season.

The frozen supermarket has slashed the prices for its online shoppers for today (December 21) and tomorrow (December 22). To redeem the discount shoppers will need to use the code "PENNY-VEG" when you go to checkout. The code will give shoppers £1.99 off their order and allow them to choose some Christmas staple vegetables for just 1p.

There is no minimum spend to qualify for the deal however, usual delivery charges apply for same day or next day delivery. There is also no set number of deals available - so all Iceland shoppers can benefit.

The deal is sadly not available in stores. Some vegetables included in the offer are:

  • Keelings Carrots (600g) - originally 79p
  • Keelings White Potatoes (1.6kg) - originally £2
  • Keelings Parsnips (550g) - originally 99p
  • Keelings Broccoli (400g) - originally £1
  • Keelings Brussels Sprouts (400g) - originally £1
  • Iceland Cauliflower Florets (1.2kg) -originally £2
  • Iceland Petits Pois (800g) - originally £2
  • Iceland Carrots, Broccoli, and Peas (1kg) - originally £2
  • Iceland Country Mix (1kg) - originally £2

If you were to buy the full list of nine vegetables without the offer it would cost you £13.78 - compared to 9p as part of the deal. The move comes as research commissioned by the supermarket found 48% of Brits are worried about affording food shops in the lead up to Christmas.

Richard Walker, executive chairman at Iceland Foods & The Food Warehouse said: "We’re confident that our 1p online exclusive veg deal will be a big hit with customers, helping Christmas dinner budgets go further and lightening some of the financial pressures so they can enjoy the best festive period possible.”

Tesco, Aldi, Asda and Sainsbruy's have all slashed the price of their Christmas dinner veg including parsnips, carrots, swede and Brussel sprouts. Aldi, Lidl, Asda and Tesco have all slashed the price of their winter veg to just 15p although you will need a Clubcard to bag the discount at Tesco. Sainsbury's and Morrisons have cut the price of their veg to 19p and again you will need a Nectar Card or a Morrisons More card to get these deals.
