Cindy Crawford says she 'vividly' remembers the time she met Princess Diana at Kensington Palace following her brief 'cameo' on Netflix's The Crown.
The 57-year-old actress and model shared the throwback snap where she stood next to the Princess of Wales on her Instagram stories after her name was dropped in the latest season of the hit show. Celebrating the life of the 'modern princess' she went on to recall the time she had also met a teenage William 'who had just discovered the supermodels.'
In one episode, Prince Philip quizzes William on the women he has plastered on his walls. Responding to his grandfather's question, the teenager - who is played by young actor Ed McVey, says: "Claudia Schiffer, Cindy Crawford and Naomi Campbell."
Posting a clip of the scene, Cindy wrote: "A little cameo on @thecrownetflix,' Crawford typed in the caption. 'I still vividly remember visiting Kensington Palace to meet Diana and a teenage William (who had just discovered the "Super Models").
The sixth and final season is currently streaming on Netflix and chronicles the tragic aftermath of Diana’s death in 1997. It is split into two parts.

She said: "Remembering this inspiring woman today. This photo was taken at Kensington Palace. Princess Diana had somehow got the number to my office and called herself to ask for me.
Crawford was given a personal invitation to visit the palace after bumping into Diana in London. According to the model, the mum-of-two wanted to surprise son William with an unexpected visit from one of his idols.
The American supermodel revealed she felt nervous and had a hard time picking the outfit she was going to wear to see the late princess - and was pleasantly surprised at how relaxed and easy it was to talk to Diana.
Opening up about the time, she said: "My assistant was in shock! We finally connected and she asked if the next time I was in London I would come by for tea – I think Prince William was just starting to notice models and she thought it would be a cute surprise for him and Prince Harry.
“I was nervous and didn’t know what to wear, but remember as soon as she came into the room and we started talking, it was like talking to a girlfriend. She was a class act and showed us all what a modern day princess should be. Rest In Peace."
