This little girl was dreaming big, and it's left people open-mouthed.

When children draw up their Christmas gift wish lists, they can often include some fantastical elements alongside more reasonable requests, like whatever toy there is currently a craze about amongst their classmates that year for instance.

When one little girl's wish list ended up on Reddit, some people were really shocked at what she was requesting, and how expensive the items were. The Christmas wish list itself had come from Project Santa, run by the United States Postal Service.

The 110-year-old program works by allowing members of the public to 'adopt' a letter written by a child to Santa, and send the child one of their desired gifts. The letter in question featured a pretty long list of expensive electronic items, and the person who posted it felt that the parents of the child should have managed their expectations more clearly.

"My girlfriend was looking through these wanting to send a gift to some kid and I assumed these letters that get posted in here are families that can't afford to get the kids something so they use this so their Christmas doesn't suck," the anonymous poster explained.

"I'd say 90% of these kids are expecting $500+ gifts and my girlfriend can't afford to send something like that and I assume 90% of the population can't either. I feel like if I [were] asking for help I'd ask for something reasonable there's no way all these PS5s, iPhones/ iPads, and Jordans are being bought and sent out.

"How do these parents not get their kids to write something reasonable so they aren't super disappointed when they don't get $500-$2000 of electronics?" They wrote on Reddit's page dedicated to infuriating things.

Included on the list were Apple products like an iPhone 15 Pro Max, an iPad, and AirPods, alongside a Macbook computer and a Polaroid camera, amongst other items. While some people were shocked, other commenters were quick to point out that children of this age group still actually believe that Santa Claus is real and crucially the one who gives them the gifts - not their cash-strapped parents.

"This is a WISHLIST from kids who believe in Santa. I can't imagine these kids are going 'well, the economy is rough right now, I don't think I should drain Santa's available financial resources,'" wrote one.

"Depending on the age, it's not really that bad," commented another user. "I really believed in Santa and listed everything I wanted. Literally. A pony, the entire winter collection for Barbie, a new computer, [the] newest bike I saw at the mall, and so on. I thought Santa would be able to make at least some of them for me, so why hold back?"

However, other users agreed with the person who posted the list that it was unreasonable and infuriating. "My parents told me don't be greedy when making out the Santa list," wrote one, with another commenting: "I'm sad kids don't want toys anymore".
